I am getting worried about this weather don't have the wardrobe to cope serious winter clothes need to be top shopping priority thinking boots and coat here unless you want to drag an icicle around :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Huge, massive, humongous well dones to everyone who participated in K4K. You have all been amazing, especially the people who ferried kits about, delivered and did their bit.

I am in the middle of battle with ex about his visiting rights to see DD. It seems that there is no way I can enforce supervised visits on him so I would need to hire someone who could take DD to the meeting points and then pick her up and bring back. Or to provide a pick up point. Ideally someone with child care experience. Somewhere South-East of Birmingham or on a way from Birmingham to London. This is so that I don't need to see ex when dropping DD off and pick up and also to have objective person to see how the visits affect DD.

Any ideas from where I could start looking mostly appreciated.

Good evening. Sorry I have not been around much but have been really busy - I suppose it is thins time of the year. In fact I spend most of Saturday night pacing nervously around the house and worrying about how am I going to finish all there is to finish. Fell asleep only after mind-mapping all there is to do and developing a two-forked plan build on delegation and uber-organisation. And this is what I have been doing: delegating and being organised. It seems to be working and I am getting through loads of stuff - mostly writing (the boring kind) and sending not very pleasant e-mails.

Marru, I am sorry to hear about your problems with ex - it is very hard when it affect your children and my heart goes out to you. Hope all practicallities will be arranged and you will feel calm and secure about DD soon.

OO so very well done on K4K - it is amazing what people can achieve when united by a common goal.

Cheri - hope you are feeling better soon.

As to everyone else - keep safe, warm and positive.

We have had a little sprinkle of snow but nothing major and hope it stays that way! Have a change od clothes andy wellies in the car just in case we get stuck and I end up sleeping at work:eek: my friend from Canada does find the whole thing silly as she can't understand why it can't be dealt with as they are so used to getting 6ft of snow and life just carries on as normal:D

Olive it's nice to see the website up and running have now got something to show all the people who donated.

  • I agree with your Canadian friend really... when I was in Norway, I drove about just like normal in deep snow, caught the bus, etc etc etc as if the stuff wasn't there

Now here, I won't take the car out, I ring work to announce I am working from home, blah de blah...

I think it's because most of us don't know how to drive in it, too close etc etc, and of course other countries invest in proper snow tyres.

Of course, down here in Plymouth, it hardly ever snows... just once or twice in the past ten years which really is veyr very good. Too cold!

I think the snow continues on it's merry way across the country, so stay safe and warm people xx
  • Come and live in the west midlands, not a flake so far :( Only light snow showers predicted so clearly we are the county to be in.

Just remember when driving in snow - DON'T stamp on the brake should you start to slide, practice cadence braking which is basically gently pumping the brake pedal, take off in 2nd gear (or highest gear available) and it's perhaps wise to pack some old towels in case you get stuck. And a small shovel so that you can dig under the wheel, deposit said towel in order for the tyre to gain some purchase in the slippery wet stuff :)
