Remind me next time I decide to make chocolates not to overcommit... the kitchen is disgusting, I feel sick and I still have LOTS more to do. I never seem to be able to do these things in small quantities!

I'd be better off making one new flavour a week (or month) than trying to make huge batches for christmas and easter at the last minute.
  • Well done MG - the first of many :j:j:j.

Mmmnnn - homemade chocolate. Don't worry Greenbee that sick feeling will pass ready for the next batch :D.

Well today has been spendy - no vpl knickers bought for daughter's "clingy" prom dress; boob-tape to help keep her modesty covered and a beautiful hair-piece. The shoes have been seen, so we are going back tomorrow to buy those along with booking a hair appointment and an appointment to get her nails done.

Just be thankful you've got lads MG and don't have to go through this circus, MSE it is not - bahhh

Doesn't feel like it, but I hope so... I've tidied up lots, so the dishwasher is now full of all the mixing bowls, fillings are all in labelled plastic pots and the ones I've made are packed away. Last time I did this was over christmas, and it was much easier as I simply switched off the heating and the kitchen was the ideal temperature for it!

1 batch cherry, 1 batch orange, 1 batch framboise and half a batch of coffee done. I have coffee, rosewater, almond and apricot fillings prepared if I can face doing anymore. But I may just decide to remove the chocolate from the kitchen surfaces/floor/walls/doors/lightswitches and abandon any further attempts...

Echo what TSL said about Girls, I only have 1 plus 4 boys :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. But when she was a teenager, she was very high maintenance and I don't think MSE was around back then lol.
Including cars for Xmas (dont do it anymore though) I learned the hard way. Driving lessons, cars, expensive mobiles, you have to draw the line, don't get me wrong I adore my children, but am sooooooooo glad they are all grown up now.
Grandchildren are great, you have all the fun and pleasure and you get to hand them back the next day lol xx

Fantasia - You must be psychic, I was thinking about Bailey today and wondering how he was doing so thank you for the update.

I recently had to look at a set of accounts for a very well known Football Club and was interested to see that their players were counted an intangible assets - Maybe that is where husbands and children should be :rotfl:

My Mum wanted 7 boys as she felt they were far easier to bring up than girls but ended up with only 2. She always told us girls that she would far rather have had more boys and that we were a great disappointment to her  But we always knew that she loved us really, especially when we started to bring boyfriends home :o She was from the wartime generation and knew how to make do and mend, there was always food on our table, clothes on our back and a helping hand for those in need. I was thrilled yesterday when an old friend of the family said that I was more like my mother than my sisters but I know I will never be half the woman that she was :)

You see, intangible assets they are - but this is a rare case where labour is highly specialised and unique (in other words gift of some kind is involved). Also, football players are being bought and solf (and their feet ensured etc.). The case is less clear cut with academics - probably because when we are bought the organisation doesn;t get anything. And probably this is why universities are the only organisation that spends most of its time getting its main asset really annoyed.

I think most large organisations do something similar - got mates in Social Work, Teaching and Health Service............. they all feel pretty annoyed most of the time.

Absent last night as Memoryguy was here - he is training in Edinburgh today and I betcha he gets tired at about 3 this afternon as we spent hours after the boys went to bed drafting a plan.

He also brought me up two copies of his new book - that has four of my Mind Maps in it. They look lovely - and the book is colourful and full of pictures.

We tried to analyse what part of my "work" I find most fullfilling - and I came up with some suprising stuff. Funnily enough :D I love creating my mind-maps - especially I love learning new stuff and creating stunning mind maps out of the information.

So now he has got me phrasing questions like "Do I think it's reasonable that throughout the world, over the next three years, there are enough people to commission 20 mind maps for their organisations at £250 each?" - well I am already doing one per month - so I KNOW there is.

The huge goals all seem so much more acheivable when "chunked down" to little bits .................. so to that end I have contacted the lady that organised the montly Mind map for me and asked her to see if there is another of her clients who would be interested.

So I have eaten one of my frogs this morning.

Off to feed the boys breakfast

  • I love this thread so much. It has taught me so many, many things, that I cannot quite clearly tell you how important it has become to me. Completely inspirational.

I realised, as I drove to work this morning, that I have changed my mind set so completely in the last year. I no longer have a default negative setting. I always look for the positive in anything. I am calmer and more productive at work. I am calmer and more productive at home. I am prepared to push myself and drag my husband along with me to get to where we want to be. I am immensely grateful for being introduced to Beyond Chocolate and The Secret, and OS generally.

So, thank you MG and the Matrix. You totally rock!! :D

MG is right... they aren't the only organisations who do that. Most organisations forget that PEOPLE are their most important assets. All the automation in the world can't do away with the need for people in any business.
I think most large organisations do something similar - got mates in Social Work, Teaching and Health Service............. they all feel pretty annoyed most of the time.
It says an awful lot about the way we all live if most of us spend most of our time at work, and we spend most of the time there being annoyed (and a lot of the time we're not working too). It's not productive or positive, yet most people feel that there is no point trying to change it. In my own workplace, when people start moaning I tend to ask them whether they want to change it - if they say they don't think there is any point, then its really a question of put up or shut up. The moaning just adds to the negativity. So I ignore the stuff that I can't change and try not to let it get to me, and I try to work out how to change the stuff I can (usually by stealth & manipulation, occasionally confrontation).

So your portfolio approach of lots of small bits of work may well be the answer. Although you may have more admin you'll also have more control, and if a particular client is impossible to work with, you can simply drop them at a convenient moment and focus your energy elsewhere, so avoiding the negativity.
