Morning one and all. Sorry if I offended anyone re religion. Was definitely NOT my intent to come across as God-squaddy at all, and sorry if I did. I am not entirely sure why they need to have a religion question on the Census. What one person believes and what another one believes should not have any impact on anything other than their own spirituality. I have a friend who is tempted to put "Timelord" in the Religion box. That will confuse them!!
Got another really busy day ahead of me and not entirely sure I have the energy to cope with it. Plus my plantar fascitis is acting up and it is making my heel hurt like billy-o. Deeply unpleasant to walk any distance, and of course, I have a long way to walk today. I think I might take some paracetamol and hope it lessens the pain a little.
Glad to hear MG has been given the sign off by the doc, and thanks Claire for sending the text to her.

Afternoon all,
Lovely day here now after a very wet start. I am, again watching red kites. Do you think the census would let me put that as my religion? :rotfl:
EH - love the idea of remission but for me I class it more like a recovering alcoholic - I know if I go near a church all the same old feelings return. I am like you though I do respect other peoples opinions and recently when I was in Austria I had a good laugh at the couple we were with who live there when he was saying that, whilst he isnt catholic, he loves living in a very catholic village because it means that he isnt allowed to even mow the lawn on a Sunday, good excuse to rest he says. Now why do we need an excuse - never mind catholic guilt trips I say consumerism/keeping up with the Jones' guilt trips come into play with us in Britain.
I just want to send a big hug and thank you at this point to Crickett she will know whyI think you are a beautiful soul Crickett.
Trog - what a great way to look at Lent - a challenge.
Claire your sewing machine antics do make me giggle. I have a vision of you running as fast as you can to the other side of the room.
ETA - well done on the stall Claire

im giving up fizzy jiuce for lent, big challenge for me and the timing fits in quite well, as ive just finished a diet/exercise challenge to see if it makes any different to diabetes. (find out tomorrow eeek!) Will see if this has any positive effects on health as i do tend to drink a lot of it. im not particuarally religious but do like the idea behind lent. its more about having faith in yourself to try and do something difficult to you?:j Debt-Free-Wannabe! :jDeclutter/Ebay/Savings0

Afternoon ladies
Thanks for all the comments re H and his interview. My positivity is back in gear today. It seems more and more clear that his lack of second interview has nothing to do with his ability to do the job and other factors instead. It's c r a p p y but nothing can be done about it. The managing partner at the office was delighted at H putting himself forward for the role so that's a nice compliment. Will have to see if partner is disappointed that H won't get to have an interview with him
Anyway onwards and upwards, clearly the Universe has other plans for us so need a keep an eye out for any signs of the way to go
crickett - I am not offended by your comments lovey. I class myself as an agnostic-pagan-make up your own religion-type :rotfl: I admire people who have that faith and believe but organised religion is not for me
claire - well done on your stall :T:T
Minilaura and Trog - nice ways of looking at Lent.
cheri - oooh hope you managed to get a pic. Share it with us if you do.
It's really windy here and rain keeps blowing in and out again so have given up trying to dry the washing outside <rollseyes>

I get the feeling that Lent still speaks to people who are not particularly religious. I am often surprised by the number of people who say they are giving something up for Lent.
I used to give up using the car for Lent - meant I could still drink!!
It hurt enough to make me feel it but it was positive at the same time - more exercise for me and DD who didn't get a lift to school, less pollution and CO2. It forced me to live more simply which is good whether you are religious or not. But then it was only possible because I live in a suburb which has good transport and supermarkets within walking distance (oh yes, I did the shopping with a wally trolley - online shopping would be cheating!)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Glad my sewing machine antic's have kept you all amused, Just going to pop into town for socks as the socks I had off my cousin had no heel
so cannot use them.

Hi guys, when Little Boy was three years old and I was filling in his nursery application I got to the question about religion. Being the extrovert I am, I was talking myself through it so it went like this:
Me: "Religion, you don;t have religion. Shall we put NA here?"
He: "I have religion, mummy."
Me: "What is your religion then?"
He: "Happy."
I would gladly join a religion like that, I thought.
