Bitsy I am sorry to hear about H but I am sure that once he gets over the upset then he can refocus and look for something better.
Claire would love to see the sock monkeys, I was looking at a blog tutorial for them and they look fab. Highland Monkeys blog is great, she makes some really good ones and has a folksy/etsy shop for them too. Thanks for letting us know how MG is.
Crickett - please dont take offence but I consider myself to be a recovering catholic and so I dont do lent (or any other religious ritual). I do understand why people do these things and I agree wholeheartedly that choosing to do something worthwhile is a much better thing than giving things up (after all why give something up for 30 days and then just binge on it all at the end again?) Sorry I will get off the hobby horse now. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Claire - glad you got the sewing machine situation sorted - I'm afraid I did giggle a bit when you said about turning the other one off at the plug and then running away from it!
Thanks also for posting the MG update!
Bitsy sorry to hear the bad news on H not getting a second interview. It must mean that there are better opportunities out there for him, although I appreaciate that may be cold comfort at the moment. I suspect in a year you'll look back and say "thank goodness..." though.
Cheri my OH would identify with your situation - he's rebelling against enforced catholicism through childhood - he's been in remission for about 20 years! I am completely non-religious - the census will be interesting as I have a feeling they want you to classify yourself as "something" (agnostic, atheist etc) however I don't label my lack of belief in that way at all! I believe in fate, but don't think there is an option for that! :rotfl: I'm firmly of the "each to their own" opinion - beliefs that work for one person don't work for another. When we are in the Hebrides we make the effort to respect the far more religious approach to Sundays when we are in an area where this is relevant.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Morning all!
Up early today as had an early morning deadline and was too tired for the final check-through last night (went to the pub after final class of a course of evening classes so got home late).
Bitsy, so sorry about H, but 'some of the things that have been said' alongside the interview situation make me think that perhaps he isn't really appreciated where he is and would be better looking elsewhere anyway. Something better will come along, and we'll all wish for a positive opportunity soon!
Claire, sorry about the sewing machine, but glad you've another on the way! Can't help with the html yet either I'm afraid, but yesterday a friend did show me the very basic outline of how a complete beginner without a clue could begin to make a website using html so in a little while (a few weeks I mean!) I may be more useful.
Thrifty well done on the painting!
I think Lent could be another way of seeing a 40-day challenge; if I could do one painting/DIY job a day we'd be sorted with the next stage by Easter!0 -

I think there is an option for a "no religion" box to tick. I was listening to a radio programme discussing this and apparently at the last census a lot of people used the "other" box and there were an awful lot of Jedi's in this country :rotfl:.0 -
In Scotland the census comes out at the end of the month. Wondering if there's an option for single and living alone but in no way shape or form like Bridget Jones....I suspect not!'The road to a friends house is never long'0

We got our census in the post yesterday, and yep there is a 'no religion' box. Not sure about a 'special Souk-esque single and loving it' box thoughDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Well I did start to run first then Ds2 shouted turn it off at the plug lol. Dh did have a look at it last night got it sewing but it started smoking again, he thinks it is the power lead, had a look for a replacement lead (as the machine is an expensive one) they wanted $169.49 , So not sure what to do.

Managed to sort it myself, found a front page tutorial, where you could practice, copied and pasted the html into it and it gave me the standard layout, which I ammended then, recopied back to ebay lol.

Very windy here today, mum has a physio app this afternoon, so I'm going to shower in a minute, then download instructions for the sewing machine and instructions for the sock monkey, print them out, so when I get back I can have a go.
Got a letter back from craft folk this week tooI have been accepted for a stall in the big Cheese in Caerphilly, a huge festival last year over 50,000 visitor's attended
so I best get my bum in gear and get crafting. If I can do the sock monkeys I may make some to sell.
