  • Nuts to your sewing machine Claire :(

Grey windy day here today - cold brrrrrr.

Tis a painting day here at Thrifty Towers - undercoating done yesterday - now onto the glossing, one door frame and door done. Having a cup of tea before attacking second door, doorframe and skirting.

Had lovely pancakes last night for tea courtesy of Mr Thrifty - nom. Hope all are well.

    ok will do

Yes wasn't funny with the sewing machine, Ds2 was threading it for me, he turned it on, it made a bang, started sewing itself (no-one was touching the pedal) then there was smoke bellowing out of the bottom :(, so we turned it off at the plug quick and run lol. I had an offer for another one on facebook last night, the lady is going to bring it down today, hopefully then, I can hopefully make the sock monkey I have been asked to make :)

My cousin found pins, stuffing and socks in her charity shop yesterday so It hasn't cost much if I cannot make them.

Claire - well done on the new sewing machine, and you can, You CAN, YOU CAN make a sock monkey (and I want to see pictures!!!!).

[OK, this encouragement does have an ulterior motive, since I have fancied making one for ages and have been wondering if it is too hard ;)]

Anyway ... if you do, I promise I will have a go too (this will fit neatly into my FB challenge of making something for 5 friends and paying forward in the hope that they make something for 5 more friends!

NL - I've never made a sock monkey but having seen some blogs they're not too hard to make (easier with a sewing machine).

Claire - glad to see you've got another sewing machine on the way.

As for me.........I want to swear. A lot.
H rang, he's not got a second interview. Don't want to go into details on public forum but their reasons for not proceeding are pretty woolly. Am gutted for him, really disappointed alongside being hopping mad at some of the things that have been said to him.

Keep trying to remind myself as this door closes a bigger and better one will open up somewhere else. Universe if you're listening can you make that happen sooner rather than later :(

Anyway not feeling terribly positive at the moment so will leave it at that. Normal service will resume tomorrow I am sure.

Sorry Claire, I am hopeless with that sort of thing I am afraid. Sorry. I am sure someone somewhere will be able to help though! :D

Today is frantically busy, but going well. I had to go to Church at Lunchtime for Ash Wednesday so the time I would have spent catching up with things at lunchtime was otherwise occupied! I have also had three meetings this morning, done some checking and some calculations and generally tidied my desk as well. I have to work late because the Church service went on too long, but that's ok. I have more than enough to keep me occupied!

So, Lent has begun. Is anyone giving anything up? I am giving up snacking and moaning; and I am taking up (which is a much more positive thing to do) trying to get to Church during the week as well as on a Sunday and getting more exercise. Both are going to be tricky with the workload I have at the moment, but I am going to try! :D

Have a lovely day one and all. :)

Kitchen glossing all done :j . Just the walls to paint now - I always decorate in order of least favourite job first. So I start with the ceiling (hate working above my head) then the woodwork and finally the walls.

Sorry to hear about dh Bitsy, hugs to you both.

NL - Sock-monkeys - I'm sure the ladies here would help you out

Crickett - my daughter has given up crisps and chocolate for lent. Last year she gave up crisps and managed all the way through.

Another cup of tea I think in order to fortify me after all my exertions :rotfl:.
