I am 3 pages behind here and a bit the worse for beer but just wanted to send good vibes to Crickett re the job, it sounds ideal!!
Also Thrifty, have you tried more environmentally-friendly (can hardly believe I managed to spell that right in my current state) paint stripper? I tried some stuff called Home Strip, made from fruit, and I found it really good. Reviews are very mixed but mostly positive if you follow instructions.0 -

Isn't it amazing what a beer-addled brain can cope with - well-done on your spellingHope the head isn't too bad this morning.
Will look into Home Strip because Nitromors really is nasty stuff. I only have the front room woodwork to strip now :T and that is planned for later on in the year.
Have a good Saturday everyone.0 -
Morning Matrix. I have my work computer at home with me this weekend so I can do some work on my professional portfolio! I have done quite a lot of work on it already (but I hadn't realised it) so feeling good about it. I need to re-read what I have already done and get my head into drafting things. I reckon four or five weeks and I could have it done. Which would be great. I don't think it is essential for the job I have applied for, but it would certainly be nice to have. Hubby is currently cleaning the kitchen which had got into a fearful mess recently, and has promised that he is going to clean the house and get it looking "spit-spot". I have my reservations about that. His idea of spit-spot is not my idea of spit-spot. But bless him, he does try!
Tomorrow we are going to Church as usual and then going to an Ice Hockey match. I wonder if I could get away with wearing my team's jersey at Mass?Mmmmmm. Probably not.

I am pretty sure God isn't bothered in the slightest what you wear to Church
Went to a conference this morning for work. Keynote speaker was fantastic, could have sat and listened to him all day. Rather depressingly though he told us only 1 in 7 dads read to their children  Also made me consider how I am not really encouraging my own kids to be avid readers (like I am) so hearing him speak has strengthened my resolve to get DS especially hooked on reading. OK he's struggling to learn to read (it's an area he's "below average" in) but as the speaker pointed out let them find an area of interest and that that be the guide. Apparantly there are several schools in one particular area where they all buy DiggerMonthly (who knew such a particular publication existed) to motivate the boys into a passion for reading. So I shall be looking for an Astronomy magazine for DS
Rest of the conference was a bit disappointing but ho hum it was worth it for the first couple of hours.
No other plans today, back aching, tired as H worked til midnight and I couldn't sleep til he was back. Having a slobbing afternoon I think.
Hope you're all having productive and positive days
Thrifty - I swear if I ever get the chance in a new house I wouldn't gloss paint. I loathe it. Even the non-yellowing stuff discolours and having to sand it, prime it and re-paint it.......well lets just say my inherent lazy nature can cope with that much prep workI'd rather have natural wood and some wax
troglodyte - wow your typing under the influence is pretty good :T:rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

:rotfl::rotfl: at Trog, well done you on managing to type. hope the head isnt hurting too much today.
Bitsy, that conference sounds like it was worthwhile if only for the key note speaker. Does your son like Professor Brian Cox if he likea astronomy? Perhaps you could look at things on the internet too to get him reading such as blogs and webpages. If it helps to know I am an avid reader but when I was in junior school I had extra lessons, I was told at the time that it was because I was so good and I really believed it. Then one day (age 32) I had a lightbulb moment when it dawned on me that I had the lessons because I was a bit behind everybody else.
Very productive day here. I have gone through 12 boxes and whittled down what to keep and what needs to go. I now need to decide whether I want to spend time ebaying/carbooting or just take it to the charity shop. I have to admit to being time poor at the moment. Work is just so full on that when I am not working I really want to just relax. I may just offer some boxes on freecycle too. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

Bitsy - your keynote speaker sounds good. Me, I've spent all day doing First Aid!!! Hey ho, fourth time I've done it and each time I've had the same tutor who is REALLY good! Makes the day go really quickly.
Hope Memorygirl is on the mend - look forward to 'seeing' her soon.

Don't lurk, join in we don't bite
Speaker was Neil Griffiths inventor of the Story Sack. Wickedly funny bloke, passionate about reading (even Heat magazine which is his guilty pleasure :rotfl:) and doesn't approve of all this box ticking that we have to keep doing :T
Claire - Don't be too despondent about lack of sales. Was the cost of the stall very high??
Not much going on here today. Shattered after some late nights and interupted sleep and bad back. Might send kids out into the garden this morning to burn off some energy or if I can muster the energy myself take them to the park.
Must get out and feed the birds, they're getting through the seeds and peanuts really quick :T
Have wonderful Sunday all of you xI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
