Wow. I think I want all of them.
I would love to have a dog. But I work long hours, hubby works long hours, and we also have 3 cats...what kind of dog could we have? In all fairness, our circumstances need to change to that one or both of us could be home for at least half a day, and that is unlikely to happen any time soon! Besides, don't dogs chase cats? As one of the Laws of the Universe?"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
and more danes here too
So many lovely dogs just waiting to share their life.
Having Moo is a joy and I would not be without him. He is currently curled at my feet, head placed on feet and paw wrapped around my leg, snoring. \Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

To have a dane it is best that you are at home and they aren't left for too long. Although Max has, in the past, been left for up to 8 hours a day regularly when I was first seperated from ex OH. I did change my lifestyle, not particularly for Max but it has been great for him and me.
Cats chase Max actually and he runs like the wind from them! My cats also used to boss around my cocker spaniel and GSD when I had them. Very bossy animals cats!!!Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sorry Mrs Hicks, missed you there amidst the Dane talk. Sorry to hear about your tooth. That seems to be going around Cheery is suffering too as is Pippilongstocking. I hope that you get it sorted soon. (((hug)))Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Right, ball is rolling. 1st port of call was OH (we have discussed it at length), to say that I really want to adopt a GD, so tonight we are doing to have an in-depth discussion about the do's and don'ts and in's and outs etc.
He's concerned about the sheer size, never having had anything bigger than my shepherds. But they were part of the package when he met me, along with my 5 kids, so I dont see a Dane size as a problem.
Then tomorrow I will make the call. And get the ball rolling properly.
I just feel OH has to be totally aware and fully on board, (and he will be after tonight)>
Now that I've decided I feel energised and excited (hope that does'nt sound silly).
I just instinctively feel that its the right thing to do (that'll be the Universe).
Thank you Cherisong. :T:T:T
edit to say, didnt mean to ignore you MrsHicks, hope you get it sorted soon. and GM Claire0 -
Good luck Fantasia.
I don't think I could take on such a big dog, Jack is enough for me, to be honest I'm not sure whether I will get another dog when Jack goes to sleep for good, it is so heart wrenching when they are ill
and its horrible going through the are we bringing him home from the vets this time??? last thurs was the most horrible evening in a long while.

Afternoon peeps.
(((Hugs))) to Mrs Hicks and anyone else with toothache - been there, done that, got the t-shirt - shudders with empathy.
Am intrigued about your offer Claire - will pop over to t'other side for a little looksie
Loving the pics of the danes (Harley's my boy) - I grew up with a golden lab
. We have never had a dog as I couldn't reconcile myself to leaving them all day when we were at work.
Well this morning has been eventful. A couple of weeks ago ds mentioned that he would like to give work a go :T. So we had an appointment this morning with our local disability employment adviser. Well we flummoxed him.
He admitted that the first two of his suggestions (support offered by a local enterprise group and a local Autism group) had already been accessed by us independently - oops, trust me not to wait for a referral and go thro' the proper channels, naughty girl. I explained that they were unable to offer ds appropriate support because he was too able.
He then went on to say that ds was quite a challenge - he was very impressed with his GCSE qualifications but also completely thrown by his obviously poor social and communication skills (today was a baaaadddd day in this department - ds had a stitch and was panicking that there was something wrong with his heart - ho hum).
Do you know if you don't fit into mainstream and don't fit into Special Educational Needs people are really stuck with what to do with you and I am no longer surprised when the feeling of we just don't "fit in" anywhere appears.
Soooo, positive thoughts please that this guy throws his heart and soul into his challenge as ds would love to have somewhere to go a couple of times a week at least.
Right off to see what Claire's intriguing offer was, Thriftyxxx0 -
Aww Thrifty
hugs) I feel for you I really do, your poor ds and yourself must be feeling so annoyed at the moment.

Ladies, I need a provervial kick up the keister please.
Since my big project is completed, I have been unable to muster the motivation to do anything. My excuse is that i think I might be coming down with something (and I have a headache) but the fact of the matter is, I still have a big to do list, and the jobs on the list are equally important as the big and fascinating project I have just been doing. I really want to go home and curl up with the cats and the remote control, but I have meeting at 4-5 and I really need to go to it. Any quick ideas of what to do to get my motivation moving?!
Thrifty,
Good Luck with finding something for DS to do. Will send positive vibes your direction."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440
