OOOhhh I have just received another commission !! I never sell the first few months of the year normally :)

Website is very quiet at the moment but that's to be expected. Plus there's not much on there at the moment (I want to sell off old stock before I buy to make new IYSWIM??)

:T:T:TBrilliant start to the new year:T:T:T

  • Fantasia - wot a lurvely hubby you've got. I'd volunteer to help with a diy party but it would mean a long swim and a coast-to-coast walk to get to you guys :rotfl:.

I don't have a LETS scheme near me :( - I may just have to investigate setting one up as I could do with a joiner, a carpet-layer and a tiler. Hmmnnnnn.

    Eta: way to go Claire.

Great News Claire. I know why you would want to sell off the old stock first but dont forget to reinvest some of that profit into new up to the minute designs.

Wednesday hasnt got off to the start I was expecting. Should have been travelling today to deliver some sessions but the hire car didnt turn up so had to cancel. I am seeing that as a positive though because it means that I have a whole 7 hours that I wasnt expecting so working at home means that I can spread the work out and get some jobs done around the house today.
I am not as productive as you lot but today I have already
    • stripped the bed and put bedding into washing machine
    • walked Moo
    • Been to the shop
    • Made breakfast
    • washed breakfast dishes and tidied kitchen
Quick scoot around the diaries and I will be all set to start work at 10.

    Have a good one everybody.

How lovely Fantasia. Have you had them round to chat to you yet? I thought about volunteering to be a home checker. You get to take your dane to the peoples house and see them go  when you walk in. Really funny.
It sounds like your OH would benefit from being in a lets scheme. (sorry dont know what happened to the link - thanks tmif) if he is oftern doing things for people. It basically works on banking time and then claiming it back when things needed. It doesnt have to be claimed back from the person that he has done the work from it goes into a central bank if you see what I mean.

No I havent contacted yet Cherisong. Have been looking at reputable rescues but they all seem to be well south of the border, even though they say they cover the whole of the UK. I found a phone number on FB for someone in Scotland who does scottish rescue. (in fact she lives in Fife also).
But when I went to the rescue site they have no danes on offer
and categorically state that Scotland Danes seem to fare better in their treatment compared to the rest of the UK. And they have loads of other breeds and small animals to re-home as well.
The rescue where I got my last dane was in Lincoln (I lived in England at that time in the Midlands).
So I am hanging fire until there is enough in the fund from the 'no smkoing' (fantasy fund).
Have looked at the GD forums as well, and the Scottish Rescue does'nt get much of a mention in there (1 dane in the past 4-5 months).
The Lincoln rescue asks how far you are prepared to travel and I would travel for the right Dane.
What I'd like though is to have all the finances up front before I commit to taking a dog (assuming I pass the Home check).
My white GSD's were always rescue, and have passed home checks for rescues before so am fairly confident.
I want to be financially watertight though as in having the money to insure, pay the donation and have a back up in case we get a dane that needs castrated or speyed.
    Hope that all makes sense.
The only thing that may be a problem is that we have a little Heinz 57 variety mongrel caled Scruff, he's 11 and was never neutered.
A lot of rescues insist on other dogs (if you have them) are neutered before they will consider letting you adopt, and honestly think Scruff is too old to withstand losing his bits .

    What do you think....????
  • Hi All, still suffering here with the tooth thing, either I've got an infection or dry socket :( Doc has given me antibiotics and if that doesn't help need to see the dentist :(

MG here's some free tomato seeds for DS's garden project. Ohh I think I may have inserted a link thanks to everyone's tutorials on here the other day :j Thanks guys!!

Fantasia. Just as a guide I pay £50 per month for Moos insurance but that is the Platinum standard and he is 6 years old. When I first got him I had insurance at £10 per month. He eats Wagg - about 2 large bags per month which is £10 per bag. I only pay £9 because I keep getting discount cards for a DIY store that helps me to focus where I spend my money ;). He doesnt cost much more than my cocker spaniel did because he doesnt eat as much as people think. The danes he stayed with at Christmas are on the barf diet and that apparantly is quite cheap. My cocker spaniel was not neutered, nor is Max. Great Dane Care in Carmarthen seem to get lots of Danes in. They are not far from me, so if you were to head this way I could organise putting you up. They seem to have Danes in quite often. If you are on FB (I think you are because I think you have linked to me - thats if you are the lady with the two lovely white dogs in the picture) then you can search for them and like them then you will see when they get new dogs in. Here are the danes that are up for adoption at the moment.
I am sorry to say this because I know I should be being MSE but I truly believe that for things like this if you continue to wait for your Fantasy Fund to be in place then it might never happen. I also think that the right dog will find you when the time is right for you.

Thank you, info much appreciated. Looks like I have to make a decision, and a phone call. And ask the Universe. You are quite right of course, I had Abbie (1 of the white GSD's) within 3 days of passing the home check, and that came only a week after the initial enquiry. Time to get the ball rolling.;)

Edit to say, yes that's me and Abbie and Storm on FB
