Thrifty - hugs re: your son's dilemma. What kind of thing does he want to do? Would he like to work with animals? I know there's a lot of talk about danes on here at the mo, and I'm thinking of some voluntary work my bro does at a dog rescue centre local to him, he says there are quite a few people with different challenges who really enjoy the interaction there. Hope the chap puts his thinking cap on and comes up with some fab ideas for him.

Thanks cheri, received (earlier this evening ...).

Thrifty, thats a good idea of Kittikins', depending on whether your DS likes the idea - I used to organise "riding" schemes for people with mental handicaps, and the change in some of them was profound. They sat on a horse and had a volunteer walking round on either side with them. The change for the volunteers was pretty amazing too, which is what your son would be - they learned animals, they learned cooperating, they learned some people were worse off than them, and once they had an external structure to their day that could be checked up on, employers were willing to take them on.

Just checking in with my 'must dos of the year': have been trying to get work experience with a few places and have had a contact ring a friend in an appropriate place who wants me to come in for 'a chat'. :j This has been put back to next week, but I am hopeful, although I can't afford to rest on my laurels and need to apply elsewhere. Kick my bum to get off it and continue applying, peeps! *insert bum kicking smiley*

    Hugs to all
