Happy Birthday scottishlass!
Hubby and I are celebrating his Mum's 70th birthday (with her - because it wouldn't be fair to celebrate it without her! - and his stepdad) by going out to the poshest restaurant in Nottingham tonight. I am really looking forward to it. I have also made a decision to really commit to SW again (but after tonight!). TDQ was kind enough to send me the details, and although I made a half hearted attempt to following prior to Christmas (and it was extremely half hearted) I need to get my tushie in gear and get myself sorted out once and for all. I have also decided that since I have 2 and a half years before I am 40 and I do not want to be my present size and shape when I turn that momentous age, it is time to make some changes stick for once! In fact, I am considering throwing a cocktail party for the big day (with a pianist, voice quartet, barman etc) and I intend to be in an incredible dress from Monsoon. So. Something to definitely aim for.
Hugs to everyone who needs them! And Positive vibes to one and all."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

Happy birthday Scottishlass! Hope you have time for at least some nice fun stuff in your day!
:bdaycake:
Thrifty I really hope your son finds something, it would be a shame for his talents to be wasted just because he isn't too good around other people.
Crickett I love your cocktail party plan! Definitely something to aim for :T0 -
Is it incredibly sad that I know I have 964 days until I turn 40?
I think I have found the venue for my cocktail party - our church hall. They have a grand piano, and lots of tables, and it was a lovely venue for my hubby's 40th party (which was a barn dance!) so I think it would do really well. I know the caterers as well, so that is more or less sorted. I just need to source a barman, the harmonic quartet (should be pretty easy with my friends in the music areas of Nottingham) and, of course, the dress. But that can be closer to the time. I am going to be speaking to my hairdresser on Saturday anyway, and I am going to ask her what I should do with my hair. At the moment it is dead short, but maybe 964 days is enough time to grow it out and have an unspeakably glamourous style? I trust her implicitly, so if she says, stay short, I will listen to her!
You know the strange thing? I am incredibly excited at the prospect of transforming myself. I don't think that has ever happened before!
Right, better get on with the day job. See you all later."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

Morning lovelies, just catching up.
Thrifty, a friend of mine and I were discussing autism last night as one of the lads on her college course is autistic and she was saying how much he has come on socially just being in their company. He is very into antiques and has chanelled this into a business which is succesful enough to allow him to have bought his own home and now be at college full time so I'm sending you all the positivity in the world that your son can find his passion and work in that field too.
Crickett, wow you do sound motivated!!! That birthday party is a great goal to aim for.
Claire, will look at the other side re your offer too.
Scottishlass, big happy birthday to you.
MG you're sounding really positive and god aye, it's easier to get stuff done without the wee man, lovley though he is!
Day off today and I've got some serious cleaning planned. Love cleaning so that's all good then a wee short day at work tomorrow and then I'm off to the parents for the weekend. PAYDAY IS MONDAY. WHOOP!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

I really need some matrix wisdom
My car has just failed its MOT, it needs a new engine and it's not worth it as the car is a heap anyway. Problem is - I can't get finance because we've been told it'll stop us getting our mortgage in approx April. Parents can't get credit (dad is on DMP). The only savings I have is our deposit so can't really touch that as we're working our butts off to reach the target as it is. What do I do?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
