Morning All,
It's Monday and I am going to have a good week this week.
JC - you have definitely done the right thing. There are too many people who are doing jobs/working for companies which go against their principles. It makes them miserable but they get stuck into the wage trap. This translates to poor customer service, it makes everybody else miserable. Well done to you for having the courage to say its not for you. I am sure that the right thing will come along.
Helen, how awful, it must have been dreadful standing and watching and not knowing if there were any animals in there. I truly hope that they got them out of there safely. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Good morning.
I'm absolutely shattered this morning, woke up at 3 to go to the loo, took ages to go back to sleep, then I could here jack (the dog)running around like a looney crying, came down, he had only undone the collar thing and bitten the top layer off the fat lump againjust as it was starting to heal nicely, now its an open wound again
. Although it looks cleaner than the last time so it might heal a bit better and faster now, I put salted water on it and the poor thing jumped a mile and run away, everytime I go near him now he moves lol , aww poor thing it must have stung
.
Both boys are in school, ds2 isn't well still but he has only been to school 4 times in 2 weeks, so I told him he had best go and I would have his jammies and a snuggly quilt ready for him when he got home so he could snuggle on the settee.
Today I want to have a good clean through while no-one is here. Get washing and drying up to date. (did a bit of ironing last night, not much just school uniforms as I can't stand up long enough to do it)
So far my TADA list is:
worktops in kitchen cleaned
Dishwasher empties and refilled and waiting to be put on
tumble emptied and refilled.
washing in machine sorted washing either in the tumble or on rads.
Now it's coffee and porridge time.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
I'm back again, where is everyone?? All in work or has a life I expect lol.
Well living/dining room now all clean and tidy tops polished floors bleached, windowsills wiped down. Washing machine emptied and refilled, tumble the same.
Still need to wipe settees over and sort kitchen floor (but can't do floor until clothes are washed and out of way as they are sorted into piles ready for the machine) only 3 more to go
Plus the passage so I can get in and out without falling over a bike(had a sideboard delivered on Sat which was put in passage on it's side, and the ds1 came in and put his bike on it as he couldn't get it away as the sideboard was in the way) I couldn't lift it on its top so my friend who were chatting in the street came and moved it, so now I can get the bike away and save my poor legs
it hurts when you hit the pedals as you go passed lol.
Time to sit for a while as my hip is killing mewith a nice cuppa while I wait for the floors to dry.

Morning!
Claire you are doing well.
Helen, sorry to hear about Temple Newsham, we've been there several times as we have friends in Leeds we visit quite often. Hope the animals are OK and the building can be restored.
Clooties mum - to save the sore nose, I always use lip balm on the edges of my nostrils, it really works when you are blowing your nose a lot (better not to use the pink sparkly stuff though lol)
Had a busy weekend away so now feeling a bit spaced out from too many late nights, but it was fun. Got off to a poor start here though - walked daughter to school and about half way there she complained her feet were hurting as her shoes were too tight. I asked why she hadn't mentioned this before but she said they were OK yesterday (??)
Then found we had forgotten homework, wellies and indoor plimsolls, so after dropping her off I had to walk home then find them all and cycle there and back again with those.
Then posted something I sold on Amazon and forgot to ask for a proof of posting receipt (there is one person at the post office who always offers, and one who never does and if asked, produces oone with bad grace after much huffing - of course I got her today)
Then realised I hadn't hung washing out or had breakfast - so got those out of the way and am only just starting work now!
Oh dear, behind already
On a positive note though it's not a bad day outside, and I saw a group of goldfinches in the garden, YAY (I think the official word is 'a charm of goldfinches' - sweet!)0 -
Waves to Claire and Troglodyte - sounds like you have both been busy.
It is quiet in here this morning.
Well all is go at the house of Thrifty this morning...
Veggies prepped ready for tea
Dry washing sorted ready for ironing
Wet washing sorted and hung out to dry
New washload in
Beds made, house given quick tidy-up
and....
2.5 hours painting already done
just about to go and do another hour before a late lunch.
Was feeling bit fed-up at not working (getting paid) this morning sooooo I have just costed my time out....
Housework 1.5hrs @ £6 per hour min wage = £9
Painting 2.5hrs @ £15 (wot we paid our last painter) = £37.50
So £46.50 earnt (I know, I know saved) with another £15 to go before lunch. Total £51.50 earnt before lunch - not bad :rotfl:, there that's cheered me up.
Catch you later, Thriftyxxx0 -
Wow Thrifty you put us to shame.
And a penny saved is a penny earnt :j (or in your case £51.50) - well done!0 -
Any news on Temple Newsham?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Good morning to all, you all sound very productive (I do like the charm of goldfinches).
Work has been too demanding recently, I was in again for 5 hours yesterday but even so managed to fit into the weekend
2 hours of gardening
1 bout of the Shred
1 attempt at reglueing a broken table (failure)
1 venture at carrying large stepladder upstairs to replace lightbulbs in the ceiling light in my bedroom (sucess)
15 minutes gawking sadly at the Temple Newsam fire (no animals hurt, I hear now)
So apart from the last item which I would happily do without, not a bad weekend.
I have only done the Shred 8 times in three weeks so hardly anything compared to the daily routine it expects, but I can report that it is getting easier. In particular I've never been able to do press ups and actually still can't but can now manage the modified version (you know, resting on knees instead of feet) quite well. I'm not sure how that will benefit me but it is still quite encouraging.
Also encouraging is the fact that I lost 3lb this week.0
