Sessie - welcome to the [STRIKE]madhouse[/STRIKE] thread :j
Bitsy - I'm another one that eats when I am tired, hope you manage to get some rest later. I was a childminder many moons ago, over 16 years ago, where does the time go.
If anyone is in contact with MG can you let her know that we are thinking of her and her Mum. There's no pressure for her to post a response, just wanted her to know we are still make-doing and mending or in my case diy-ing.
Hugs to all, Thriftyxxx

Good news re your Mum MG. I am glad that she is home and progressing. That is good news.
Lovely to hear that DS2 likes pre-school. I remember LOVING my playschools, and in most of them, I never wanted to come home. In fact, I can clearly remember refusing to go home because I was playing that I had a cake in the oven and it wasn't done yet. As far as I can remember, I couldn't yet tell time and i have no idea how my Mum got me to come with her!
Sorry I have not been around much today. My work has gone totally postal today - more work, deadlines brought forward, just utterly stupid. However, this is seriously important stuff that I am doing and I know it is going to be appreciated when it is done, but ladies... I need positivity. Actually, i need to borrow spare brain cells and have a HUGE amount of energy coming in some form or another. I'll see you again after Wednesday ladies, as I really need to concentrate on getting the to do list down to a manageable size."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
just wanted to delurk and say ...glad to hear you mum is feeling better MG...0

MG - its good to "see" you back. Glad that they now know what is wrong with your Mum so hopefully they can get it sorted. You have missed some silly parrot talk and lots of discussions around romantic first dates if you wanted a quick catch up without going over the thread.
Well Monday in work is done and I ended up enjoying this afternoon. I lived in the moment and took each step as it came without worrying about what else was waiting to be done. I used to be good at doing that seems that I lost the knack along the line.
sessie - welcome. I see KK responded to your plea. Stick with us we all seem to have had a dose of the January blues but we are coming out of the other side I think.
Bitsy, write a list of what is important to you to get done. If the housework is left for 20 minutes crafting and an hour with hubby then its left. When you are gone nobody will remembered that you needed to hoover on Wednesday but they will remember the lovely card that you sent or the the way you and hubby were so together.
Alison - if I wasnt a veggie I would ask if I could come to yours for tea.
Everybody else that I may have missed :T:T for all the good work and  Hello! Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

I can't even remember the last time I sat at this computer and logged on here.
My Mum is OK and home - something I can't even pronounce never mind spell. Basicaly a nasty virus that attacks the immune system - she feels like she hasn't slept since New Year (cos of the steroids and the all over itch) and because she is feeling so queasy she has been getting really dehydrated (although on the bright side she has lost a stone since New Year)
So if the drugs work - she should be ok from here on in - although the Doc's have got the jury out as to whether she will have another bout or never have it again.
MG
Glad you are back MG. You must be very relieved thet your mum is back home and hope she is soon back to her old self.
Sessie - welcome to the thread. Look forward to hearing from you again.
Shalva and Dangers - Why not come and join in - you'd be most welcome

Bitsy - how long have you been a c/minder? I will be glad for September when I can ditch the EYFS - I only look after school aged ones now. I hate all the paperwork involved.
I'll go back to lurking now.
Been doing it 2 years now. EYFS came in not long after I'd started so I don't really know any different. I am not against the EYFS ethos per se but what I don't like is I find myself feeling under pressure to do activities for the sake of making Ofsted happy which I hate. It's not what the job should be about and although in an ideal world we should be seen as more professional I fear this isn't the case. The paperwork is the bane of my life, I sit looking blankly at a piece of paper each month for my planning hating the fact that I have to write all this down.
Sorry rant overDangers don't lurk come and join in.

Bitsy we cross-posted!
Well now I'll have to see if I can do it again. I wrote what I wanted to say then highlighted the word that I wanted to be the link, like here by double-clicking on it, then went to the little picture of the world with whatever it is below it that is on the little tool-bar above the text box (along with options for bold, underline etc), clicked on that, it opened a box to paste the link. I copied the web-site address and pasted it in there. The first time it didn't work and I just got the complete address in the message. The second time the message looked OK but when I clicked the link word I got an error message because the box already has http//: in there, so if you copy an address that naturally starts with http//: you get it twice and then it doesn't go anywhere. The third time it worked! I think I may have got the knack of it now - if I have then the link above should take you to a story about Paul Daniels' toupee!
Hope that long explanation makes sense.
OK this is a test
Edit: Yay it worked! Thanks troglodyte been wondering how to do that for aaaaaaaages.
Just wish I didn't have such an awful story - my thoughts are with everyone affected.
second edit to add:
MG - glad your mum is OK xI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
