The Rev Ian Black is our vicar & a very nice man too. He only heard about it because DD2 posted it on Facebook so his son looked out of his bedroom window, saw the blaze and they all trooped off to have a better look.0 -
Lunch break, needed some sanity and a bit of positivity so headed over here. Where is everybody these days?
So pleased that the animals were all safe. I hate to think of animals suffering. What a sad thing if it is youngsters involved in arson. I hope that is was an accident and, t if youngsters were involved, they have learned a valuable lesson from this.
Had a big wobble in work this morning. My computer seemed to have died on me again and I was ready to chuck it out of the window but a very nice IT man talked me through it. He said switch it off and on again!!!! I did this 4 times before ringing him and wouldn't you know it worked when he was on the line. I think they have magic powers sometimes.
Claire and Thrifty - how busy you have been. My TADA list is all work so I wont bore you with it.
Has anybody heard from MG, I was wondering how her Mum is. If you are around MG - I miss hearing your whizzing around tales, get yourself back in here as soon as you are able. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Hello everyone,
I hope you don't mind me jumping into your topic but I have been lurking for some months now and you all inspire me daily with your positivity and "togetherness" and I need a little Matrix-like injection in my life.
Have hit a real "low" lately and I'm sure I read either in this topic or the previous one, that someone had a link or a copy to "The Secret" so that I don't need to buy it. I could really use some uplifting ideas on how to change my mindset and move onwards and upwards.
If anyone can help, please could you PM me. I don't get online every day so may not reply straight away but I'd be really grateful if you could find the time.
Meanwhile, whilst I see things have taken a small slide here too, you all have each other to rely on and I'm sure you will all be rising up into the sun again soon.
Thank you.

Now can you tell me how you put the link in with the word IYSWIM, I normally just copy and past the link in full but your way looks so much nicer
Would have loved to post a big long list of accomplishments but I can't
Went shopping but too longer than anticipated as I bumped into someone and we were gassing :rotfl:
Put vac round upstairs and picked up DD from pre school. Going to get vac out again for stairs and all rooms downstairs and then it will be time for school run. Each day I start with a nice long list and I either CBAor get distracted with other things
Tired today as back is giving me jip and was doing back exercises on bedroom floor at 2.30am to try and relieve the discomfortAs a result I am eating for England today as I feel so tired
Ho hum tomorrow is another day.
I feel I am struggling to keep on top of my housework, childminding and it's associated paperwork, my own kids and my craft projects. It's been over a week since I had a play round making some cards and I've not managed to fit in any more. I don't want to spend every evening doing it as I'd like to be able to spend some time with my H. I need more hours in the day or the only feasible thing is to cut back on the number of projects which I really don't want to have to do. Sorry just rambling there as it's been going round and round my head and I just needed to get it out.
Helen - glad no one was hurt in the fire but what a tragic loss of history
sessie - hello! Come back again soon
Thrifty - goodness you've really put me to shame with your productivity :T well done
Claire - you too, how do you manage it all?!
Try and check in again later peepsLots of positive vibes to you all.
MG - if you're reading I hope your mum is OK xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Welcome Sessie, today is the first day of the next phase!
Bitsy we cross-posted!
Well now I'll have to see if I can do it again. I wrote what I wanted to say then highlighted the word that I wanted to be the link, like here by double-clicking on it, then went to the little picture of the world with whatever it is below it that is on the little tool-bar above the text box (along with options for bold, underline etc), clicked on that, it opened a box to paste the link. I copied the web-site address and pasted it in there. The first time it didn't work and I just got the complete address in the message. The second time the message looked OK but when I clicked the link word I got an error message because the box already has http//: in there, so if you copy an address that naturally starts with http//: you get it twice and then it doesn't go anywhere. The third time it worked! I think I may have got the knack of it now - if I have then the link above should take you to a story about Paul Daniels' toupee!
Hope that long explanation makes sense.0 -
Hello ladies (& gents),
It has suddenly turned grey and raining here so i popped on for a cheer up. Have done a few "odd" jobs today, went into the loft to get a couple of books out i wanted for DS (have quite a stash up there of "things to grow into, books/clothes and toys).
Made a batch of cookies and a sausage and onion gravy potatoe topped pie ready for dinner tonight, and then a few little jobs like tidying odd bits, lots of washing up etc.
Going to have a really quick whizz with the hoover before school run, then it is off to a friends for a play (if it is not raining too heavily - as it is a long walk there and back) then home to put the pie in the oven and have another friend popping round to see us.
Am quite looking forward to a hot bath and a read of my book for 20 minutes later.
Anyone been in touch with MG, bit worried in this case that "no news is bad news" if you are just reading and no time to post MG then Hi, and hope that things are picking up for you and your Mum.
Have a good rest of the day all,

Bitsy - how long have you been a c/minder? I will be glad for September when I can ditch the EYFS - I only look after school aged ones now. I hate all the paperwork involved.
I'll go back to lurking now.0 -
Actually to make you feel even better, a penny saved is much more than a penny earned by the time you take NI and income tax into account. About 1/3 more
Carry on like this and you'll be rich by the end of the day!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Hello Peeps
I can't even remember the last time I sat at this computer and logged on here.
My Mum is OK and home - something I can't even pronounce never mind spell. Basicaly a nasty virus that attacks the immune system - she feels like she hasn't slept since New Year (cos of the steroids and the all over itch) and because she is feeling so queasy she has been getting really dehydrated (although on the bright side she has lost a stone since New Year)
So if the drugs work - she should be ok from here on in - although the Doc's have got the jury out as to whether she will have another bout or never have it again.
Nothing to report - a mountain of laundry and "melted" bananas to deal with. Washing machine with one - banana and walnut loaf with the other.
Oh! DS2 started playgroup this morning - 2.5 hours. Went away real happy and gave me a massive hug when I collected him. I made him some "no cook play-doh" this afternoon, so I am pretty sure I am still his best Mummy.
No - Cook Play-Doh
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tbsp veg oil or baby oil
1 tbsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp almond essence (optional but makes it smel like the real stuff)
Few drops of food colouring in 1 cup of boiling water
Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl and add the boiling water. Stir with a wooden spoon until it all comes together in a soft dough.
If its a bit sticky add some more flour.
Store in a ziplock bag in the fridge - mine is one of thse clicky plactic containers.
Keeps for ages in the fridge and cheap enough to make if it starts to look a bit grubby
