Woo hoo, your mum is on the mend, what a relief MG0

Glad your mum's on the mend MG, and hope you're getting a little time to yourself too xx
(((((((((((hugs to everyone here in need of them, and who would like them)))))))))))))
Sleepy here, been trying to stay upbeat, end-of-phd SO close (and yet somehow feels so far away...), and work emotionally exhausting (as well as 6 hour round train trip for fieldwork today). So I'm going to sign off and say sleep well all, see you soon xx0 -
Evening all
MG - hope things calm down and normal service resumes in your house as soon as possible!
Well after my major wobble over the interview last night the girl from the agency emailed me back and said that the company had been restructured a few years ago (some of the negative stuff was around this time) and that she had placed a coupl of people there and had great feedback - she encouraged me to go to the interview and make up my own mind. So I did. And I have been called back for a second interview at 8 in the morning!Climbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

And if you see this before you set off, use the opportunity of the second interview to ask questions about the things that concern you. Talk to them about company culture/ethics or whatever it is that was bothering you. Ask them to explain how they do certain things, how they deal with certain situations etc. You could also use the negative stuff you've seen to help you formulate your questions - how would you deal with this or that situation.
Remember, interviews are about you deciding whether you want to work for them, as much as them deciding whether they want to employ you.0 -

Good advice from greenbee there! Good luck! xx0 -
Good luck JC. Greenbee is right it is as much for you to decide if you want to work for them as the other way around. So do the grilling. That will surprise them
Blah........... Tuesday. Off to work. Catch you all later. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Yay, Tuesday - working from home today and so far so quiet (logged on about 7am), long may that last!!
I have a dilemma now after having a meeting with my science course tutor - I feel like I enjoy the lessons but that the information doesn't sink in too well and I panic when faced with a written question, but seem to do okay....I have to decide whether or not to take the higher or foundation paper for GCSE by next Monday. The tutor says she'll support whatever I want to do as my marks are okay and it's really up to me as to what I'd feel happiest with. (I need a C for potential career progression purposes.)
Do I:
a) ask to be put in for the higher paper, and stretch myself, hopefully retaining a lot more info (I have a literary degree so find science confusing as it's far too logical for me, why use one word when you could have a whole paragraph, lol). I'm learning to be concise and use bullet points as I go along.
b) go for the foundation paper and have hopefully less stress, but will I feel like I've let myself down?!? But I do also remember that I am quite lazy, am a single parent, work full time, do various volunteer bits and pieces, so maybe I wouldn't be letting myself down, just
Decisions, decisions......any ideas on how to make my mind up? My heart and head are saying totally different things!0 -
Do you actually want to stretch yourself, or are you just doing this to get the C you need for the future?
If you can get a C either way, I guess the answer to ^^ will tell you which one to do0
