Wise words indeed, Marru
On the topic of boy meets girl, here is something I was sent last week: sorry if it is old hat, I hadn't come across it before and it made me giggle: it looks sexist to start with but gets balanced out in the end

Groatie - (didn't copy all your post because it was so long.) I haven't laughed so much for a long time - fabulous.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Have looked at the rescues already and am investigating, don't know how they will feel about me though. Smalll 3 bed house, small garden, but does have 6 foot fences all round. We have a Freelander for transporting large stuff (OH generally, at 6 foot 4 inches, he needs lots of legroom lol). And I work but only 4 hours in the mornings. No small children, just adults and visiting grandchildren. Plenty of country, woody, lochs etc to walk round.

I live in a small 3 bed house with a small garden. Until this summer it wasn't fenced. I know of people who live in small apartments with danes. As long as you are prepared to take them for walks everyday they get by fine. I do know that some rescues are a bit over the top with the whole garden and fence thing though. Having owned a dane you will know all about the not leaving them for more than 4 hours and that fits with your lifestyle. You have experience too so that will count for a lot. There is a dane rescue not far from me Great Dane Care - I follow them on facebook and get regular updates as new dogs come in. I try not to look - would love another one. There is also Great Dane Owners forum and people go on there to tell about dogs that are up for adoption. Think you stand a great chance.

They've done Marley & Me. But I just love reading what you give. It lets me visualise, makes it real, and I know all things are possible. You should try Cherisong. Just write about what you know. There's a big market out there for stuf that is beautifully written and not just sensationilistic carp

Thanks. I will think about it. My notebook is full of people watching notes for the day when I pluck up the courage to do it

HAd to edit, clip was sooooooo funny, OH was rolling in the aisles, and Robert was shouting 'F off, F Off'.
I hasten to !!! I did not teach him that, he had the vocabulary when I inherited him from elderly Uncle. * MY parrots language would make a sailor blush.
He also says several unsaoury things about Celtic (uncle was a rangers supporter).

That is so funny. Coco shouted it once when I had guests. I was shocked but then pretended he was saying stop plucking and explained that I had been telling him off for plucking feathers - think ex OH used to mutter it under his breath at me when I was out of the room

More Animal antics on you tube.

It is funny. but its funnier when people are trying not to laugh, looking mock-shocked and asking @did that bird just say what I thought it said'?.

Funnier still. (not lol) is the smoke alarm impression at 3.00 in the morning. But we wont go into that especially when he follows it with something about 'wring your bl**dy neck'.

must set up a video camera lol, so intelligent though, he'd know and refuse to interact.

Yep, as soon as I get my video camera or try recording him on my phone he goes quiet. Not quite the same with the camera though he poses for that.

He also does the smoke alarm but doesnt swear after it. He does the phone and holds the whole of one side of a conversation. He said my name for the first time ever this week, that really made me smile.

2023: the year I get to buy a car
• Morning Matrix, Not on here much yesterday - it was a fine day and made a start in the garden finally able to get up some of the fallen leaves that should have been cleared last year but they were too wet. My containers of bulbs are started to come through, which always cheers me up, spring flowers like crocuses and daffodils are my favourites. Tucked them up so they are sheltered fom any more snow we may have.

My Boots bargains arrived yesterday, so enjoyed sorting out my pressie box and arranged to meet old friends so I feel happy that I am moving forward in my 100 day challenge.

Groatie - love your post - so funny

Morning y'all, not been on as I pulled a wire between my computer and modem the other day and it's taken me til now to get it sorted. Well between that and my socialising I just haven't had a minute to get on here...oh and work of course!!!

Glad things seem to be getting there for MG and hugs for her and Mum.

Loved all the first date stories and romantic bits. Don't have a romantic bone in my body but interesting to read!

Have a lovely Sunday all. I'm off to work in a bit X

Morning Matrix - I have surfaced

DH shared his cold/flu with me & I couldn't move yesterday - by the time he came home I was on the couch - log fire blazing, heating on full, warm cuddy cardigan on with a hot water bottle on my knee & a furry blanket - all in an attemp to get warm.

Feel better today but will take it easy as I don't want ths back.

Signing off to cuddle up on couch again & beat up DH

Needless to say, the only part of my 100 day challenge that was dealt with was be no biting nails & losing weight - not fit to bite nails & couldn't eat - silver linings & all that:o

Sorry to hear you've been poorly. Look after yourself - echinacea and manuka honey are my home remedies for bugs like that. Keep warm and rest.

Hope that you feel better soon Clooties Mum.

Having a good day here so far. Been on an adventure in an attempt to find one of the three hill forts nearby. Lived here 2 years and I still havent found them! Having fun trying though. Today I found the birth place of Dafydd ap Gwilym. (the welsh among you will know more about him than me but he was a famous poet) Now I am in the middle of making crumpets. Whilst listening to Desert Island Discs - happy Sunday
Ingredients
3 - 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoon butter, melted
2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon sugar
2 - 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 cup warm milk
1/2 teaspoons baking soda dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water

In a bowl stir together yeast and water. Let stand for 5-10 minutes. Add warm milk, butter, salt and sugar. Add the flour and stir until the batter become smooth. Let stand for 30 minutes.
Stir in soda dissolved in water, leave to rise 20 to 30 minutes.
Grease griddle and heat over medium-low heat. Drop batter into crumpets rings. Reduce heat to low, cover griddle and cook crumpets until tops look dry, about 10 minutes.
Flip them over and cook for a couple of minutes. Serve toasted with butter or with cheese melted under the grill

might post a picture if they turn out ok.
