Good evening
Had a lovely day here, Ate way too muchback on diet soon
Glad everyones day went wellBoiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Hi MG - can see where you are coming from in terms of time constraints. Perhaps you can find a new way around things? I remember the band 'Gorillaz' doing a 'residential' in Manchester a few years ago where instead of the band touring round different cities as per usual, it meant that they took over a venue in Manchester for a week and put on a gig every night of the week, and people came to them instead. That wouldn't always be possible in your type of work, but I guess what I am saying is that perhaps there are other ways of making the same business plan work in different ways. I'm sure you and the mentors will be able to come up with them, too.
Take care one and all, and enjoy your festive break. (*Grumble, whinge* I'm back at work in the morning...*think positive thoughts about time-and-a-half pay*)Please call me 'Pickle'

Hey ladies, hope you all had a good Christmas and Boxing day. Been up half the night coughing. Getting fed up of being poorly now. Kids are still ailing and none of us can seem to shift it
Anyway no major plans apart from taking DS and DD to toys r us to spend their Christmas money. Not going on a "diet" as I don't do those things but now Christmas is finished the excuse of eating and grazing to excess has to stop. Am now going to focus on savouring my food (when I can with young kids) and I've even rooted out my (don't laugh) Geri Halliwell Yoga DVD. 2011 is going to be a year of getting bendy and flexible
MG - If you know if your heart it's not the business you want then don't be afraid to tell Mr Big. I wouldn't want to spend 200 days a year travelling away from my family. Beyond Chocolate run online courses so perhaps that's a way for you to reach clients without having to physically travel to them.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
MG, that sounds wise. Like Mrs Big said ages ago, they're used to coaching men who have a wife that takes care of little things like raising the children!!!
Bitsy - beyond chocolate was such an interesting phrase, I had to google them - still interesting, thank you. sorry you're still ill, I know that feeling, and I'm bored too. But hopeful2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I think you are absolutely right MG - I have always thought that despite the " uncertainty" in relation to income of self employment the real advantage and key selling point of being your own boss is that you are able to choose when and how you work, rather than "having to" do something, be somewhere etc. I am sure that you will be able to find a way to make it work in the way that suits you and your boys.0

Thats a brilliant idea!!!! So simple!!! why did I not see that instead of tying myself up in knots
Off to compose a long "love letter" to Mrs B so that she can help me approach her "boys".
Its not that I don't want to train and to speak I do with all my heart!! It's just how to combine that with being with my boys as much as possible, being a good role model to them, paying our way in the world, providing them with some security .........
............... it all just whirs around my head sometimes.
I'm toying with the idea of using audio and video online to do the training instead. Having the mojority of my students come to me rather than me travel all over the planet to see them IYSWIM.
I hate the idea of using the "internet marketing" model. The "offer you loads of freebies to suck you in and them selling at you really hard by bombarding you with email" model.
If truth be told I want this stuff to be available to everyone - but obviously still need to earn money whilst doing it. But I would like a more honourable way of providing it online. So ..............
.............. what do you guys think of a "subscription" site? Where you pay a few pounds every month to have access to all the tools and tips and training and MP3 files and Video and Webinars.
A site choc full of stuff to use yourself or to use with your kids!!
The only thing is balancing the "cost" v volume issue to make sure it makes sense ................. so better go off and have a deeper thik about how to find subscribers.

On a brighter note - I've got £9.57 left in my Christmas budget :j:j
Nothing spent on Credit cards (don't have one any more) and nothing left to clear through the account ............... so maybe the heavy snow has had some benefits :rotfl:
One last treat of a bottle of screw-top wine for New Year (not doing anything except spending an evening with the littlies). So a glass or two would be lovely.
So still got about £3K to clear on the personal guarantee - but chipping away at that nicely. Has to become my priority over the next set of challenges .................... I did pretty good at everything except the weight loss, I actually weigh more now than 50 days ago .
Onwards and onwards my friends

Just having a bit of a catch up, and it seems you're doing a fair bit of reassessing your priorities MG! Well done you :j sometimes we just don't know what we want until we start off down a road and it doesn't necessarily feel right... (and enlisting the help of Mrs Big sounds like a great idea - although if they're reading this it won't come as a surprise!
)
Mind you, I've only read this page, so might have to delve back a little further! :rotfl:
Looking forward to the challenges and adventures we're all going to have in the new year! :T We are currently SO lucky to be lodged in a fabulous house of a fellow MSE-er, overlooking the sea, far away on a Scottish islandWe're here for 2 weeks, just me and Mr Daffs, and having a great old time. Plenty of wandering along the beach, and staring out of the window, and having a good old think about what the new year will bring...
lots of love to all of you xx0 -
Hi Cheery! Glad the island is being so good to you.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I think web-course would be an excellent idea - a kind of 'conference course' through the internet. Just think - all the courses that have been affected by this adverse weather could have carried on in the comfort of our own homes. I think travel/accomodation would be off putting for some of us (especially when funds are limited) but think of this as an example.
If a place on a course in a training centre in Anytown cost £70.00 per candidate and you would have to factor in overheads such as room rental and your own travel and accomodation costs and you would be limited by space to how many could attend. What if you were to host the training in your home via web cam 'live' with some interaction from course participants - what could you then do the course for? £40? £50 per link?
Just throwing it out there - you can chew it over. Personally I would love a place on a course where I didn't have to factor in the costs of travel etc (being based in Belfast it would have bumped my costs up considerably).
Have fun!Climbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness
