Turkey and stockings stuffed, parcels under tree, pigs blanketed, red cabbage braised, buche du Noel and lemon mousse in fridge etc. Anyone would think it was Christmas! Now to soak in a bath and - possibly - get to bed before it is.

I hope all of you have (or had, depending when you read this) the sort of day you hoped for and that 2011 is a good year for you all.

    Hello Lovely Ladies

Back in my house again -Still stuck here with frozen pipes - never again will I take running water and central heating for granted again!!! But at least we are in our own beds with our own things around us ( and internet acccess too)

Regardless the boys had a lovely day -thanks to all you lovely people who sent them little treats. DS1 may have to be surgically removed from his DSi as he has new games galore. DS2 a "Welsh Dragon" that he is convinced is the same one from his "Ivor the Engine" video - does that ring any bells??? And they both have enough chocolate to last them till Easter.

I am the luckiest lady of all because my Memorypal sent me a Kindle, he says off all the people he knows I am the one that reads the most and would appreciate it best. I also got £15 into my paypal account to spend on e-books,so I can't make up my mind what to treat myself to first.:T

Time for taking stock and making plans for the New Year. What I have decided is that I need to pare back the time I am spending withthe Mentors and finish the projects that are almost there.

Wheras last years motto was " you can do anything for fifteen minutes" this years should probably be "If not now, when???" - to try and create some balance and some fun back into our lives as a family.

So please, positive thoughs for a gradual thaw so that I escape this weather without too many burst pipes - and even more postive thoughs to let me gather the courage to touch base with Mr Big in the next few days to let them know that the business they would like me to build is not the business I want be running.

I simply don't want to be spending 200 days per year on the road speaking, I want to be based here to help my boys grow up - so major renegotiations are going to have to be the priority in 2011.

I hope everyone is safe and warm and had a fabulous day yesterday. And I'm so glad that everyone made it back into the country in time.

So for now - I'm off to turn a duck crown carcass (saved from the bin yesterday) into some lovely stock for Vietnamese duck noodle soup - Mmmmmmmm!!!!

After that - well may treat oursleves to something from my new "Hummingbird Bakery" book (thanks Elidee) as they all look very scrummy.

  • I hope everyone had a lovely, stress-free day yesterday. Glad you and the boys had a good day yesterday MG. Fingers-crossed for your central heating system. Deep breath for approaching Mr Big - maybe enlist the moral support of Mrs Big. Let us know how you get on, Thriftyxxx

MG, great about the Kindle - a wonderful gadget it is; only problem is some Airlines ask for it to be off for take off and landing which is a bit of an overkill since it can just be off the wireless. There are many free books for Kindle - there are people on this tread better than me in guiding you in this. I myself downloaded the Communist Manifesto - an old favourite of mine;).

Glad you are back in your house and sending wishes for warmer weather. As to Mr. Big and the business - would it help if you mention that it is a change of emphasis rather than core? True, it probably is not appropriate to travel 200 days a year but you would still need to do talking - it will just move from being a core activity to being a taster for the really big stuff.

Merry Christmas, anyway. And 2011 will be great for each and all of us; I can feel it.

    Good Evening All

MG - Congratulations of possessing the ability to see where you want to go and I wish you the strength and courage to forge your way x

We had the most stress-free Christmas day - it was lovely! DD woke at 5:40am and then we all went down to see if Santa had been. The kids were all happy with what they received and once DH had built DD's dolls house we never had a peep out of her all day.

The kids played quietly, DH played quietly I pottered about doing dinner (which was perfect) No fights or tantrums, kids went to bed happy and tired and DH and I snuggled up on the sofa and watched a film. If I had to draft a perfect Christmas Day it would have been a lot like yesterday. I felt very grateful for it.

DH is working tonight and the step kids are at there mums for a couple of days so its a glass of wine for me and some trashy TV

Woohoo, its pouring with rain in my corner of Fife and the snow has been sliding off the roof all day. I have never been so glad to see the thawing rain. Not holding my breath that it will last though, but a respite from slushy, icy snow will be heaven. Temps are well up too, so a godsend.
Mg positive vibes coming your way. You are absolutely right to put your boys 1st, 200 days travelling is a lot and IMHO not viable. You will work it out I'm sure. Whatever way things go you know the Matrix is right behind you and I having a feeling that the Mentors will be supportive. You taken some massive steps over the past few months, made great things happen, inspired us all. And when all is said and done, you have to do what is right for you and your boys, long term.
    (((Hugs))) to everybody x
  • MG I think you have made the right decision growing up time with your kids is a precious commodity in short supply the travelling and the speaking will always be there at a more appropriate time.

Happy Christmas everyone we had a perfect day too relaxed and non stressful.

Wishing everyone everything they wish for in 2011

    DTxx
