MG - Are you answering emails / PMs at all?
I could do with an ETA on a student book that I ordered last week and also would like to memorise a pack of cards as my Christmas (well Ephiphany) party turn

Good morning everyone! Brrrrr. The desktop widget is telling me it's -9C in Edinburgh just now.
MG, I hope the plumber comes and is able to do something about the blocked waste pipe. Never a good time for the gremlins to strike. I hope everyone else with kaput appliances gets the help needed, but above all I hope everyone has heating and is warm enough.
Well, the biscotti didn't get made yesterday afternoon :rotfl::rotfl:so that is this morning's task, then I need to sort out various goody bags and make sure I'm happy with them.
I can't be the only person who squirrels stuff away during the year for Christmas gifts and then spends aaaages trying to find where I put it all?Just adds to the festive fun - wouldn't be the same if I was totally organised and could put my hands on everything just like that! So that's a fail for my 50 day challenge of every cupboard etc being organised!!
But - I'm tidier by far than I was 7 weeks ago - for which I am very grateful! But there is plenty left to do :rotfl::rotfl:

Good morning all
Firstly, I hope there is good news for everyone on the water pipe, washing machine & travel plans. I think we all need to send a request to the Universe for a stress free Christmas for everyone. Although as we aren't meant to think negative thoughts, better rephrase that as a smooth running Christmas.
I've finished work now for Christmas which is great. Today is baking for presents, hobnobs, shortbread, cookies and little chocolate cakes in the shape of Christmas trees. I will have to go out at some point to stock up on bottled gas, not going to risk running out over Christmas, the two gas fires are all that is keeping us functioning.0 -
Trying desperately to be positive today...!
I have a full day of work today, plus a carol concert tonight, then get home incredibly late to do it all again tomorrow morning. And it is now snowing. Heavily.
Hubby has to get from Chesterfield down to Nottingham tonight as he is supposed to be glad handing the VIPs at tonight's concert. I am currently panicking about all the things that could go wrong.
However, have decided that I need to have a plan so I don't feel so negative. So the plan is... i stay in contact with hubby via his mobile phone. If the snow is geting bad in Nottingham I tell him to pack his laptop and leave for Nottingham. We do the concert and then attempt to get home. If we have problems, we get a hotel room and we try to get home in the morning. Well, it's a plan!!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

I was going to bake today but the day has been taken up cleaning
although I never got up till 10.30 as was up late last night, one of the houses in the street got broken into
But I have 3 lovely clean and tidy bedrooms, landing, stairs passage and porch, so far. plus I've got a pile of washing washed sorted and put away.
If I can get the downstairs done by tonight I can do baking tomorrow then, I've got all the ingredients for twinks hob nobs and mince pies, want to make a trifle tooBoiler pot £30.92/£10000 -

Necessity is the mother of all invention - I was 10g short of cranberries for my third batch of biscotti, so I shredded off the rind of an orange which came to exactly the missing 10g.
I'm too tired to mix it all up (dratted muscle fatigue has set in - will be looking on ebay with my Christmas money for a secondhand Kenwood mixer with dough hooks and K beaters). So the dried ingredients are weighed out and I'll add the eggs, mix and bake in the morning.
Tonight if there is nothing that grabs me on tv I'll have my annual screening of "It's a Wonderful Life". I've sent off for another film from that era, which also has an angel in it (Cary Grant) and David Niven, who I love. The film is called "The Bishop's Wife". I hadn't heard of it until last week, but it's shown as a Christmas Special every year at the Glasgow Film Theatre, and people apparently build it in to their Christmas schedule. It gets good ratings on Amazon, and is described as entertainment for adults (although not risque), it is a feelgood Christmassy film.
One of my other wee treats after Christmas will be to buy a secondhand copy of David Niven's autobiography, "The Moon's a Balloon". I remember hooting with laughter at some of his stories, and it'll be interesting from today's perspective to see if the magic is still there.
I hope you all have a warm and enjoyable evening. It's still cold here but the baking has warmed me up nicely. I hope Cheery has managed the rest of her and Mr Daff's epic journey to Pippi's - just checked both their threads and no news yet!
MG - are you dried out and draining properly chez vous??
