  • Snow is back - with a vengance but I am back at "work" today with the Mentors.

Had a session this morning where the Mentor had me chatting about what I missed about my "old life" - that's the Soho based, west-end theatre, nightclub running, drag-queen filled life.

I miss being dressed up, wearing heels, sitting in lovely hotel bars and savouring a very dry champagne or a special "French Martini" and nibbling on sushi. This was my "day after opening night ritual" - one perfect drink and time to sit quietly. My little celebration for one.

Well seeing as up here, sushi is a fish supper before it's been cooked :rotfl: , theres no-where to drink as a women here on her own - and well the weather is more condusive to wellies rather than heels right now - I'm kind of struck out on most counts:cool:

The one thing I can do is treat myself to that perfect drink when I have something truly great to celebrate. So todays "secret Santa" is a link to my favourite cocktail recipe site that has the recipe for a cracking French Martini.

    http://www.drink-recipes.org.uk/index.htm

If you want to make my favourite tipple - here you go

    FRENCH MARTINI

    2 measures vodka
    1 measure Chambord
    2 measures pineapple juice

Shake over ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a martini glass - garnish with a cherry.

Off to take the boys out to play in the snow, the an hour or so of school work for them both (we are doing subraction, long and short division, spelling strategies, reading, writing up and cooking of recipes and music practice) Something every day.

    Hi MG !!

Sorry to hear you're still suffering with the bad weather. We have about an inch of snow here, so not too bad.

I just wanted to give you an update re my 2. The effect you had on the both is still amazing. DD mind maps just about EVERYTHING. She rarely sits here without her pens and A3 pad. DS seems more into your memory systems, and memorises items off my shopping lists etc. The other day he apparently had ham on his head and cat food between his toes :rotfl:

You really have achieved something fantastic with them both, so thank you again from the bottom of my heart :kisses3: :T

What spelling strategies so you use with your boys MG? DS still struggles dreadfully with his spelling (even more so now he is trying to learn French at high school), so any hints and tips would be much appreciated :o

    Morning All

Woke this morning feeling terrible - had a cold working on me yesterday and really didnt feel like work but I perservered and got ready. School was closed today so didnt have to organise the kids. Went out to start the car and the engine wouldnt turn over as its all frozen! was showing -5 on the car which usually reads a few degrees warmer than it is. Rang the boss to see if he could pick me up but his phone was switched off, checked the train times and then just thought....s0d it!!! Something is telling me not to go to work today! SO I rang in and told them I was staying off as I do feel really pants!

Will make some lentil soup for lunch and that will be about it today. Got gift bags off to the outlaws last night so just some presents for the kids left to wrap this evening and I need to find DS2's Girlfriends slippers to go with her pressies.

Is today the end of the 50-day Challenge?

    Good morning

Woke up and it is snowing again :( I have the follow up appointment tomorrow afternoon for my back , really don't think I am going to get there :(, plus my turkey arrives tomorrow if the meat van can get through.

I've done a pile of cleaning this morning after a very lazy weekend, Washed the floors in bathroom, kitchen and living room so far. ( I know I'm fighting a losing battle but the floors were brown :(). Told the boys to take their shoes off before they come into the living room.
