    Hi guys

No really missing in action - but had houseguests so couldn't really sit on the puter.

All my guests have gone - thats the "official" visits all done and dusted for this Christmas - and before the snow descended too!!!:j Got my parentals and our favourite couple coming for dinner on Xmas eve - with my folks staying on till Boxing Day or later depending on the weather.

Thanks goodness I knuckled down and laid the flooring and decorated the hallway - it doesn't look like I'm raising boys on a building site any more:rotfl:

Filling up the Hampers today - and after that I am done and am going to take a few days with the boys just enjoying. Even the important ( the kids) on-line deliveries have been received - its just my stuff thats missing in action

I feel a musical movie and a spot of crochet going on - I'm sure DS1 would love one of these Pokemon - although I am tempted by the Pokeball hat for DS2 - what do you think??

Off to do one last boiling of tablet, then cut up and pack the clootie dumplings, biscotti and Xmas cookies.

............... and yes, we have snow, about 6" so far.......... but I have heating, water, my boys and a full storecupboard so I shall just sit where I am and count my blessings.

Just having a wee chuckle to myself. Last January I bought a beautiful Nativity set in the sales for a rock bottom price: Mary, Joseph, 3 Wise Men, a camel, 2 sheep, one shepherd and Baby Jesus in a manger.

Quick double take as I was arranging them: Mary has a babe in arms too! Twins!!

Thing is, the shepherd and the Wise Men are definitely modelled to be looking down at the babe in the crib, not up at the babe in arms. So both babes are staying, quite appropriate as I'm a twin too! Not theologically correct, but I'm sure my twin brother will appreciate the symbolism when I tell him.

No more snow here but I walked up to the shop today and the roads look awful, even the bus route that they usually clear. OH is due home tonight, he has a 4x4 so we will see but it is looking likely that I will be working from home tomorrow.

Have spent most of the day wrapping and seem to have mislaid one main present and four smaller ones in the house  Also have 2 Amazon deliveries missing

Hope everyone is keeping toastie and cosy, sending positive thoughts to those in need

  • Sorry I have given no update no internet access we are all safely home but in the process

I have had a four hour return trip to the hospital which should have taken 45 mins
Had to push OS on a transit chair to get him to hotel room quite a feat
Been pushed out of the car park by three very cheerful hotel staff
Long trip to Birmingham for reunion which OH didn't make as his car is stuck halfway up our lane
Then trip home knowing I couldn't get OS into the house without 4x4 prepared to stay in travelodge
Rescued by friends' 4x4 taking OS and my car parked on main road and me walking home

But we did it and I am so glad to be home as is OS although still in pain

    DTxx

I have missing deliveries too but I don't care have the little twins' presents and everyone else can wait
  • DT, so glad you and OS are home safe, even if the trip did take forever. I just hope you don't have to go out anywhere else for quite a while!

Just to let everyone know FW's plane departed from Manchester at 7.06 (only 20 mins late) :j
  • Hello folks!

We have escaped the snow, but WOW is it cold!! I nearly froze my wotsits off defrosting the car this morning. And then I had to go and fill it up and nearly froze doing that. However, have got into work okay.

Have had a busy, busy, busy weekend and I am shattered today. Have another Christmas party to go to this afternoon, but I am driving so no hooch for me. Probably a good thing because the Christmas party I went to on Friday was an extremely alcoholic affair and by the end of it I was definitely under the affluence of incohol!! :D Amazing thing was though that I didn't get a hangover the following day. I got it in the evening of Friday. Hubby assures me this is because my liver is working well. I was not thinking that when I had a hammering headache!! :D:D Entirely my own fault and self inflicted, but it was jolly good fun.

And the first Carol concert when extremely well too. I had 7 people in the audience, and they all loved it. Some of the carols were a tad ropey but to be honest, I think we were the only ones who noticed! :) The next carol concert is on Wednesday night, so hopefully the snow will stay away until after then!

Warm thoughts and positive vibes to everyone. Take care. I am now off to do some work. Boo! :D

Morning All, loads of snow here on Saturday and now it's frozen. It's -8 here at the moment and I have to walk to work! Still, at least it's not still snowing but more to come.

I can no longer deny that the Universe doesn't work - after my last doubting session I have really been trying to think positively and change my attitude and I can say it's worked! My biggest problem was lack of funds and I have had a financial gift for the last 2 weeks, got £10 compensation from the bank and also found I'd got £56 extra in my bank account.:j

  • I love winter, and adore snow, but i am so fed up with it now. My poor dad has been snowed in in scotland for 4 weeks out of 5. No idea if/when his presents will ever reach him. At least he is well prepared food and fuel wise, although he has a hosp app for his eye tomorrow that he is currently going blind in  that i doubt he will get too.

Also have my BIL SIL and 16 month old Niece stuck in Dublin after trying to fly in on Saturday from Canada to LHR. Had a flight booked from Dublin to Bham yesterday that got cancelled too, hoping for a LHR flight today.

Although we have not had much snow, (literally a light covering) the paths and roads are lethal from the ice, we drove sideways into the kerb on Saturday, thankfully no damage!

Hey ho, on the upside i have all my Xmas shopping and can happily survive off the cupboards for a couple of weeks if required.

Best of luck to everyone effected by this weather - maybe if we all point our hairdryers at the sky for a bit we'll warm it all up..:D

Sorry for long rambling post but feel a bit better now!
