Hi I'm Michelle - Memorygirls friend. Shes asked me to post this for you - she's dictating by phone.

First she's OK - just snowed in and BT are supposed to be coming later today, so you might hear from her personally later. In the meantime she has me logged in here as her to pass this on.

    "Morning ladies

Where there's a will LOL. Had to make sure that you got your "Secret Santa" today to keep us in the Christmas spirit.

Today is for all you book lovers who are busy preparing your homes for Christmas - or who have long cold walks to work during the snow. A site that lets you download FREE audio books to your computer or MP3 - books that you might remember from your childhood and want to revisit again.

I have "A Chrsitmas Carol" and "The Little Princess" on my player and they are keeping me company until I can get back online with you all.

Which one will you chose as your "Secret Santa" present today?

    Keep warm

    Memorgirl"

Hope its OK me popping on to do this for her.

    Ta Michelle XX

Good Morning Michelle, Thankyou for posting on MG's behalf.

Well I'm sat eating toasted sultana bread mmmmmm it's yummy

I used my food slicer so managed to get 12 slices out of the loaf, haven't cut the other bread yet.

  • Thanks Michelle and thanks MG - that will come in handy for entertainment over the Christmas season. marvellous what's available online for free.

My HQ office is closed today due to the difficulties people have had getting there, so it's officially a day off for all of us :j, and I need to make the best of it!

I'm mindful of the clock tick-tocking on my 50-day de-clutter mission, so that's where the energy is going this bonus day.

Will report TADA list later on the other side.

  • Thanks MG (& Michelle), that's a lovely site, I love listening to stories so very pleased! Also I made the mince pies last night for a meeting and they went down very well.

Susan I'm so sorry to hear your news, that must have been a nasty shock at the end of your lovely evening. I hope there is a way to get him home safe without putting your own recovery at risk.

Claire glad the bread turned out well!

Hope everyone else is having an OK day. It was snowing here but now the sun is shining and supposed to be warmer weather on the way...

Just a thought, but does he have his E111 out there with him to help towards the cost of treatment?

E111's are now replaced by the EHIC, but watch out the EHIC are for a fixed term, we had to renew ours as they ran out in September. So if you've got an EHIC card do check it's expiry date. You can renew free of charge online.

Hi ladies, hope you're all well and warm! I skidded along to work again today but closed at 4. Did my good deed for the day though. A pregnant lady on 2 crutches came in for nursing bras and asked for a taxi at the end of her visit but there were none to be had so I waited in a 25 minute queue at the station and took one round to her. She was SO grateful but I couldn't risk her going out in the ice. Her pelvis had split, yeesh!

just a flying visit as my joints are protesting wildly to the cold and the skitey ground and even typing is a bit uncomfortable.

Susan hope hubby is ok and his pain is manageable. hopefully you'll both me home and resting soon.

    Evening Matrix,

Well I don't know about you guys but I am so hoping the weather forecast is right and that things are warming up over the next couple of days. The ice on the roads is dreadful. It took me 3 hours to drive to work this morning - a journey that would normally take about 40 mins!! Bring on the thaw!!!

But getting in tonight and catching up on Facebook, I was drawn to quote that one of my friends had posted as their status update. It struck a real chord with me so thought I would share it with the matrix. I hope you like it.

'Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it' ~Groucho Marx.

Oh dear!!!!!!!!!!!! I've obviously upset the universe big time!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely WI Christmas tea; hilarious speaker; a lovely time with all my friends...........and then I came home. There were various answerphone messages.

Yesterday hubby went to France to check all is well with the house,
harvest the carrots, plant the garlic and take Christmas crackers for our French neighbours. It seems that around lunchtime he went to take some bits up to the compost heap, slipped on some mud and has badly broken his left leg. Basically he needs to be rescued from Flers hospital after he has had surgery tomorrow.

Now, at the memont I have been advised not to undertake any long journeys as I am still recovering from surgery..........however it appears that I shall have to go out with our son and fetch him home.:eek::eek:

    I am not a happy bunny.........:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Sue

What a terrible thing to happen Sue. Hope all goes well and you get hubby home safely soon. x
  • Susan - I hope that you are able to sort out getting your husband safely home whilst taking care of yourself - what an awful thing to happen

    Thank you Michelle and MG.

Claire, glad the bread is turning out OK

Souk - What a thoughtful thing to do

Now I am so cold that I am going to simply get wrapped up and spend the evening watching The Apprentice:cool:
