Warning !!!! anyone who has purchased a new ford
diesel (any make) DO NOT put sainsburys city diesel in the tank because it has the same affect as if you had put petrol in ,,,,,sister in law has a s-max 60 plate (diesel) and topped up with city diesel.
THIS is the thread - NEW Ford diesels, the NEW engines with low tax emissions - is someone from Ford trying to divert the thread.0 -
Oh yes they have. She should have read the Ford manual that has come with the car, which states the following:
"We recommend that you use only high quality fuel."
Even on the inside of the fuel filler cap there is a sticker that says Ford recommend BP.
If that is not a statement about not using supermarket fuel I don!!!8217;t know what is.
 But that means we should never shop around to get the best price0 -

With respect to the OP, I think that it's just coincidence that something random has failed after filling up.
Two RAC mechanics bled the car and it took them two hours to complete the work needed to get the 60plate working again

What a load of old tosh, especially this bit - "because it has the same affect as if you had put petrol in ". OP, if you can back up your claims with actual, documented FACTS then I might listen.
:D no but if I did have I would be selling it to the press instead of trying to give a heads up to us

Hopefully soon but then toyota took there time informing us that all of their vehicles were faulty0 -

I thought diesels were capable of running on almost anything.
:) thats what I thought

Thank you I was hoping that someone would notice it was brand new :T:T0 -
I have a new 60 plate Mondeo which has the new Ford Euro V emission standard engine. To meet strict Stage V emission regulations, the Duratorq TDCi engine has been comprehensively revised including new solenoid fuel injectors, now with eight smaller holes, work with a maximum injection pressure of 2,000 bar for improved fuel atomisation, compared with the former six-hole injectors and lower 1,800 bar pressure.
No idea if this makes a difference but after driving a mk3 Mondeo for years on Asda petrol I have now switched to my local Shell garage which is the same price as ADSA.
At the end of the day if all fuel is equal why does Ford mention that the car should only use high quality fuel which implies that supermarket fuel might not be high quality. Because of this I don't think the lady whose car broke down has much to complain about seeing that she ignored advice Ford had clearly given her.0 -

:rotfl:
It doesn't say "DO NOT USE SUPERMARKET FUEL BECAUSE IT IS NOT HIGH QUALITY" and I find it very, very hard to believe that Ford are churning out vehicles that will not run on fuel that meets BS EN 590.
We have 14 diesel Fiestas at work that run on whatever the transport depot have in (their own pump), which I seriously doubt is "OMFG SUPER AWESOME NOT SUPERMARKET BECAUSE IT'S CRAP DIESEL". It'll be the cheapest stuff they can get their hands on. Have they broken down because of it? Nope.
"Only use high quality fuel" probably means "only use fuel that meets the relevant British Standard and isn't from some dodgy garage that supplies anything that a tractor will run on"0
