Mine too. He did get home at 5pm with a letter from work advising the 'christmas bonus' this year was 156 quid and a cheque for that amount :) His regular pay day is tomorrow as well. He says I should book a 3d scan for bump and lets find out what flavour the mystery baby is. He thinks its a boy, if so we have decided he will be called James. When i found out i was pregnant it was my neurologist who told me and i was taken to ultrasound right away to date it becuase i was injecting steroids at the time and to see if viable. When that was ok and I got a picture of a little kidney bean I went to hospital shop and bought a digital test well actually a twin pack, one still in the cupboard. pee'd on it in the hospital toilet to see the word pregnant then took both back to the car in a daze where i proped them up on the dashboard, took a picture with my phone and sent it to OH while he was driving a 26 ton lorry. Friday 18th June, 2 days before fathers day :)

I then sat there in a stunned silence thinking !!!!!! am i going to do etc etc etc listening to the radio when a song came on by James Taylor called sweet baby james and that made me cry.

I swear if this one is a boy I am calling him James. Now 5 months later I still wonder if it was coincidence or fate/signs that made that song come on the radio as its early 70's i think and just not typical for the station it was on but it was a request show so who knows.

I'm waffling but i'm stuck should I spend the pennies on a scan, find out the sex and then have 12 weeks to get used to having a ???? or wait for the birth and use cash for other things. I will be happy with whatever we get but TBH i feel i need to know to fully bond with baby before it arrives

  • Personally, i would have the scan. Mine was brill, and if the money is not expected and budgetted then why not have the treat and the bonding experience. You have been so busy with house stuff i think it would be a real treat for you.

    Your choice though. ;)

I say 'go for it' and that really is a lovely story behind the name choice.

Another vote for scan from me - had one with DS2 - fab. I also needed it because that was where I found out I was having a boy (20 weeks the hosp said girl) and I really wanted a girl... needed that time to bond (when DS1 was born I was disappointed he was a boy and had v bad PND and didn't want the same for no 3) When DS2 was born I thought he was fab - so that money spent was worth it. With DS3 I didn't have one because we found out the sex at 12weeks from a CVS - so I had 28 weeks to get used to that - although I didn't care anywhere near as much - the fact that he didn't have any chromosonal issues was far more important than if he was a girl.

Scan! Scan! Scan!! THe OS MFWs all vote scan! :D
