  • My eye test was £20 last time, and that was in 09 just before i went back to work as i knew my eyes weren't right. My glasses DS2 got hold of last year and snapped an arm off, and DHs repair job is ok but the arms wobble so if i lean forward they fall off. I definitely need to sort some. I am also overdue at the dentist, but that will be about £30 for me and DH.

Prescriptions - not sure what they are at the minute. Somewhere around £7.50?

I keep meaning to check out Weezls thread. I read her original ones but they were a bit too hardcore for me, but the latest one might be on the cards looking at my budget.

there is a website with the meal plans, costings and options to be tweaked plus the recipes. I can vouch for the carrot cake :)http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/ I think i need to speak of OH about that. #

Tonight we are having stew, £1.34 for 400g stewing steak in lidl this weekend so i have flung it in the slow cooker with a carton of passata, tin of value tomatos, tin branston beans (4 for 50p) diced onion and 2 diced tatties and an oxo cube and i will add some dumplings before serving. Nice filling tea I hope and not that harsh on the bank balance. there will be leftovers too.

The white stuff arrived early :) or :( depending on opinion, not alot only a dusting but my weather widget thing says its 1 degree and forcast all night varies between heavy snow and heavy snow showers and the same for tomorrow. Local police recomending no non essential travel especially on untreated roads so I have no idea what that means for nursery tomorrow.

  • Oooo careful in the snow! (its a shock for us when we get it down south! ;) )
I think writing down a budget and spending diary can be a great way of seeing where the money goes! I know otherwise its so easy to just spend whats there

Michelle- re: glasses I would imagine you may be able to get some help with that , if not Im sure in the tesco mag I picked up (free!) there is an advert for free eye test and £10 glasses ... (not sure where these opticians are tho!) do you need them all the time or just for reading n stuff?
