Oooo careful in the snow! (its a shock for us when we get it down south! ;) )
I think writing down a budget and spending diary can be a great way of seeing where the money goes! I know otherwise its so easy to just spend whats there

Michelle- re: glasses I would imagine you may be able to get some help with that , if not Im sure in the tesco mag I picked up (free!) there is an advert for free eye test and £10 glasses ... (not sure where these opticians are tho!) do you need them all the time or just for reading n stuff?

I'm in shock just seeing specks of the stuff here. My goodness it is cold.

Glasses - i only need a very mild prescription to correct my lazy eye when i am tired and on the computer/reading. I'll see if the nearest big Mr T has them. I hardly ever wear them to be honest, but sometimes i need the extra help.

I know what you mean about the food budget. I used to think the 'feed your family for a fiver' was a good deal - now I'm a MFW it seems extortionate! We are still eating chicken casserole from the other day. Problem is when DH is home he thinks all meals need to be a full meal ,not happy with toast or cereal for breakfast or snack on toast for lunch. Have had to stop him from spending money several times already today!

Hope you don't get too much snow - are you on the East Coast?

My husband is the same. He does not consider beans on toast to be a suitable lunch or a baked potato or similar. Drives me loopy as he feels meat is also essential at most/all meals. It ends up with him wanting bacon roll or sausages on a roll for brekkie daily and its just not possible IMO. We really cant afford it. I am trying to push the point that when I am on SMP we will be around £1100 a month down on income and ATM based on what we are spending, new house costs etc our surplus is around £700 so I need to find/save enough between now and then (5 months away) to make ends meet.

We are in Angus but moving 6 miles along into Dundee soon. At the moment where we are is private roads so are untreated and a bit of a nightmare, hopefully as we are moving into a city should be easier for me but with a cracked sympsis joint already I cannot risk a tumble which would undoubtably land me in hospital. http://www.thecourier.co.uk/News/article/7979/courier-country-wakes-up-to-first-snow-of-winter.html

My hubby is delivering in aberdeenshire today and has already been stuck in one snowdrift but is heading back south so soon be here i hope soon being closer to 5pm unfortunatly but not caring as long as he is in one peice :)

Solicitors for house purchase being a pain in the bum, our solicitors need title deeds etc to confirm all ok before requesting mortgage funds and the still have not had them even although we know the sellers solicitor has them. Add that to still having it listed as for sale 4 weeks after they accepted an offer and despite the sellers telling them to bring it down. Just getting a bit stressed with it all. My midwife and my solicitor in same street so plan was to sign for it all after my regular appointment start of next week but thats looking shakey which TBH is a pain in the buttocks because DH is off that afternoon to come with me so it was all going well, time off after than and before the move is tight so arrrgggghhhhhh.
