Riviallery is good, it should keep us both focused I hope.
Nothing like reading the KFI that shows you will pay back close to 203k over term to make you re-evaluate your circumstances :rotfl:

Hi LP,
I'm going to join your merry band of active moneysavers if you don't mind. Matched betting is something I fancy. I'll get the spreadsheets up and running in the next couple of weeks and I'll let you know how it's going. I've not bothered with any of the survey things for ages (valued opinons was my particular vehicle of choice) and I've never done any of the clicky things. How do you go about mystery shopping? I properly fancy being a mystery diner - anything for a free meal!
Cheers,

Billy - I just contacted a few companies. i'll pm you a few company names. I mostly do banks and car test drives with the odd pub lunch casinos popular too. You even in aberdeen? one i do stuff for sometimes always needs people in aberdeen.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Hi LP,
I'm in Aberdeen more than I care to think about. I'd consider a paid visit to check out a casino just about the best thing in the world. I can't imagine the Maybury in Edinburgh quite scaling the heights of Encore or Bellagio but I'm certainly willing to be paid to find out! Seriously though, a few relatively inexpensive nights out to places that we wouldn't ordinarily go would be a bit of an adventure. Thanks for the help. I promise, if nothing else, not to steal anything that you might fancy doing!
Off to get the MB spreadhseet up and running!!
Cheers,

Great new diary already - looking forward to your updatesJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Bizzarly my flat is in Monifeith and the rail line is too the rear, we are just before the water. If you take the train you have certainly passed my place and probably had the kids wave to you, they like waving to the train
Casinos are a good evening out, usually 50-100 spends plus if you win you get to keep it and you get paid
As well as aiming to be MF I want a few 'big' holidays. I want to take the kids to lapland probably in 2014 so the little pixel is almost 4 but biggest pixel just turned 8 and still very much into the magic of christmas. Also DISNEYprobably Paris and Florida. I wpuld also like to go shopping in NYC for my 40th so early 2021 but i will be MF then

All those holidays sound fabulous, definitely something to work towards.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

i just typed alot of waffle but deleted it as it was waffle. The planned 'holidays' will ideally be paid for by extra cash I hope to formulate a plan at a later date. I was roughly thinking along the lines of opening regular savers for the kids at 6% and stashing some cash in there monthly but alot will be depending on what happens to interest rates and savings rates. Basically the MF aim of December 2020 is a real one and it will be acheived but I want to do things for the kids while young too, I think lapland is just something that should be done while all 3 kids believe plus it seems like it can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want, it is even possible to do a weekend day trip. For a 3night trip for 5 its looking to be around 3k for this year so it an awful lot of money but with 36 months after I go back to work it's only £90 a month which hopefully I should be able to eek out from shomewhere each month and then stash £30 per child in a regular 6% saver.
haha get me ONLY £90 a month. It will all work out in the endIn all seriousness though if we can dig out enough to clear literally 10k of DH debt in a year then we can dig out some cash for what will be the holiday of a lifetime
I'm afraid I still cannot get out of the mindset of overpaying and saving small amounts rater than hitting one specific thing 100%. I seem to favour the peppergun approach of saving X amount of interest on every debt rather than XX amount on just the one even if it is not the most financially viable.
I really should look at jiggling some stuff about. OH overdraft ceases to be 0% in January and rises to something stupid like 20 odd % so I should really look at trying to get around that because I really doubt OH will even attempt to do anything. I know it used to be possible with a superbalance transfer to shift it for a 0% card but need to see exactly how. That can be on my look into listMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
