I've used this one before Dusty which was nice http://www.food.com/recipe/spicy-rice-bean-and-lentil-casserole-18209 can use chopped tomatoes, bit of tomato puree and chilli instead of salsa or make your own. I have used red lentils too. I tend to make it when I have half a jar of ready made salsa to use up and add chorizo, peperami or similar for DP

MOAM yes deal as he's probably smaller, this ones 5ft1 almost as tall as me, heavy too and keeps wanting to climb on my knee to cuddle and whine in my ear. I think it's the darker nights and lighter mornings as he's always up with the larks. Chocolate has muted him for now. I'm actually wonder if putting them in the same room has made it worse, going to monitor and might shift them again

Jenny I hope not, DS1 is hormonal and driving me insane as it is with mood swings.

tooch forgiven, I doubt I could cope with a child who wanted one up....pleased mine aren't keen lol DS2 loves lights but not the tree so much
One day I might be more organised...........

    Hi everyone,
Busy day here. Hair done - all gray gone and a bit shorter.
Cleaned cooker, tidied bedroom and started getting holiday clothes together cos we go away on wednesday. Am just going to iron with tv. DH is nipping out for a takeaway when he wakes from his nap.

Dusty - Orange juice. We're an alcohol free household, and never make a cake with anything other than OJ. I was told OJ instead of brandy - apple instead of wine or cider. I don't know if that is true, but it seems to work for me.

Jenagain - I made the oaty bars. Didnt have cranberries or dried apple, so used all apricots and the correct seeds. They are FAB! Thank you so much for the recipe. DH loves them too.

    Hope peeps are feeling better.

    xxx

Not that much shorter but rather skinny (the boney uncomfortable sort) and also a laplurker! Dark nights may be too blame thinking about it - he's not keen on them and is wandering around at night more than normally.

OK - list done so best venture out into the cold and go shop,

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Dailies and LR done. There are other jobs I just decided to let go as I am a bit of a grump today. Went to the library then watched a film with the children. They are in the bath now, so teeth and books then bed. I shall attempt to do as much ironing as I can tonight before I lose the will. We canceled our t.v. license over 5 years ago and ironing is the only time I miss it. It does help make that chore less boring. I must do some baking tomorrow as I can't spend any money on sweet treats until Wednesday!

Well when I finally shifted myself I actually got a lot done, not as much as I wanted, but jobs done. I did find an unexpected hole in the wall by the frontdoor hidden by the wallpaper. So I filled it with expanding foam :D Never used it before, and although I made a bit of mess it wasn't anywhere as bad as I thought. :D

    Bathroom done!!:D

I also bin-bagged the boys' room as threatened earlier this week. Tough they didn't believe me. I shall put the bag in the garage for the moment, as there are some quite expensive things in it...;)

... before you start to feel very sorry for them - they are 16 and 20.

DS2 about to be decluttered to the cinema, so I can then watch TV and knit. I have a litle bit to do on a baby cardigan for a colleague expecting her first, and going on maternity leave this week.

The rest of the house will have to wait for DD's wardrobe to be built. Then [STRIKE]I[/STRIKE] she can remove all her belongings from my bedroom and the livingroom. And the kitchen.:D

Our bedframe was replaced today - much better workmanship, but still not perfect in our eyes. We won't be buying anything by that manufacturer again! It did mean that OH had to get up early to dismantle the unsatisfactory frame, then spend the rest of the day putting together the replacement.

Love and hugs, especially for Toots, lady liberty and diva, and any of our other poorlies.

    :hello:Hi dusty and hex!
It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be
  • hello everyone :)

love, hugs and spoons and i see a few sticks are needed for BD's!

well am shattered as its been a very busy few days, not done any flying since tuesday obviously but being tidy does not come naturally to me as you can see by the state of my hotel room, so going to have a HHT (half hour tidy) in here as leaving tomorrow.

    Wednesday

we drove done from Durham to Plymouth and it took 6 hours including a half hour stop for a loo break and refreshments, then quick unpack, change and out again for dinner and drinks. got a bit drunk and loud! but it had been about 5 months since i last got drunk.

    Thursday

was waiting about in the morning for the bride to be, she was 1.5 hours late due to being so drunk the night before, so that threw off the entire scheudle. i schlepped a load of stuff from the grooms house to the brides rented holiday house, schlepped more stuff from the brides house to the hotel, went back to the brides house and managed to get a parking ticket (couldnt find a space so parked outwith a bay like about 6 other cars and i got a ticket so £50 or £25 if i pay within 14 days, so thats gettign paid as I was hands up in the wrong and not going to appeal as im glad its only a £25 fine).

then took her grandparents and their luggage to the hotel and nearly manged to cause an accident. plymouth has lots of steep hills and me and slow moving traffic and not being used to hill starts led to lots of ahh bleep and panic when car started rolling backwards to many times to count. got to the hotel in the end in one piece, was part of a 4 car convoy, so apologies if i cut you up i just didnt have a clue where i was going :p

then had to have a neb in everyone's hotel room and help the bride get organised with everything. its at this point i was thinking why the hell didnt i slip her some tramadol to knock her out. she went from being calm and ok to a blubbing mess, it didnt help that her dad was being a FW which set her off more. did have to do some intervention at that point as her mum was ready to deck said FW.

then hoofed it back to the hotel, got glammed up again and drove to the rented house (taxis mega expensive down here) and shared a taxi into the barbican area. lots of fun and dinner and a sober night for me since i was driving.

    Friday

well day of the wedding, logged on here to get ideas for attacking the bridal suite then hoofed it to asda to get said supplies. £50 quid later on our way to the hotel. we were there early so stashed supplies in a friends room and took the booze to the brides room and helped calm her down some more. got some gorgeous pictures of her getting ready and a few of her wiht her mum. eventually got kicked out the room close to kick off time :D and went down to the ceromony room.

it was a lovely service with lots of tears from most people and beautiful meaningful vows from the pair of them. lots of laughter as they really made them personal and it was just "them". bit of laughter as her cousin whos 2 fell asleep during the vows and started snoring so we all had a bit of a giggle.

got lots of photos as she came down the stairs and during the service and my mate managed to take one of all of us after they had signed their life away and i put my name to a legally binding document to say she was of sound mind :rotfl:

onto the reception, we had peach or rasperry bellinis and i indulged in a raspberry one which was gorgeous, then went onto the meal which was a high team so we had finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream and a trio of deserts, then we had a quiz about the bride and groom and i somehow managed to aquire a toddler who stayed attached to me all day! pretened to put some lippy on her in the toilets and i think thats how i aquired her as thats all she wanted all evening :)

we then got booted outside as it had stopped raining for some photots then inside and down to the evening reception. this was a little disapointing as a big thing had been made of the dj taking requests and he did but wouldnt play them! also no one was up on the dance floor, it consisted of me, our friend from school, the bride and her brother most of the time. others did get up but it was for one dance and that was it. i stayed on softies most of the time but did have a couple of cocktails but stayed sober so i could drive back.

we all got booted out of the hotel at midnight and found our way back to the hotel. thank god for sat nav :)

    Saturday

slept most of the day as so tired from the previous days and pottered about online.

  • Well no flying for me again today-I seem to have spent most of the week chasing my tail-not helped by turning up for work on thursday when my shift was friday!! I don't know whether I wrote it wrongly (but had written day and date on the post it I'd used at work) or it had been changed and I hadn't been told-suspect the latter TBH. Anyhow today we've been to see disney on ice at Sheffield which was great. Booked it months ago but only told DD this morning and she loved it so it was worth it. Pleased we'd sneaked in snacks though-£7 for a bucket of popcorn!!!!!
Went to disney store back at Meadowhall to get her a reminder of the day as everything so pricey at the arena. Have to say I was very impressed with the supertram-very well organised with extra trams laid on to accomodate the end of the show. But how busy was it at meadowhall when we got back-2ish!!! I now remember why I don't shop on saturdays!!
Won't get much flying done tomorrow as have DD all day(her dads seeing his GF-funny how he seems to have dumped his DD again-this happened last time he was seeing someone but she was too young to realise then but has now) but I'll try and get tidy for a good clean on monday. Not at work until next weekend so I'll have plenty of time to get shipshape.
    Hugs to those in need.
    July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

  • Disdisbiff welcome back - you made the right choice/start by coming on here - stick to the lists for a couple of weeks and you wont know the place - and dont leave a room empty-handed - always pick something up and put it in its proper place! have sent you the pm as a reminder.
