I couldn't have asked for a nicer day yesterday. The kids were all well behaved all day, the whole family had a lovely dinner, my Dad was in good spirits and my Mum didn't flap cooking the dinner. I hope we haven't passed our colds onto my parents and brother's family, but aside from that it was great.
Feeling quite poo in myself this morning, blooming cold needs to go away. We're doing xmas again today on a smaller scale with OH's Mum, so I'm cooking today which will be nice.0 -
Another lovely day yesterday with OH's Mum. Getting a bit sick of roast dinners now though lol. I think todays plan is to go shopping as Dd1 has money to spend and OH has some vouchers.
I managed to grab a couple of bargains in the Amazon sale yesterday which is a few pressies for next year sorted.
Later I think it will be time to start thinking about what I want to achieve next year. I have a fairly good idea, but want to get some goals written down to see how achievable it is.0 -
sorry you've beem poorly, i had hoped the cold weather was killing all the bugs! As you know i have had the whole house dilemma thing. It's so hard when you don't know what to do for the best. I guess it's just weighing up actual need against just wanting. I know my priority at the moment is to get this mortgage down so am glad we're staying put.
Pam, i have same 3rd bedroom issue. It does't look as bad space wise now we have taken the bed out of it but that defeats the object don't you think!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I have a sneaky suspicion we'll stay put rather than move. The 6K in moving costs is just too much. We'll see though.
Our third bedroom is small but still large compared to some 3rd bedrooms. We just don't have enough storage in this house which is something I want to work on this year.0 -
Thanks for reminding me to top up pressie box- will have to brave the sales in a couple of days. Amazon is good idea for DVDs and things though!
Hope you are feeling better. Am also starting to think about my targets for next year.2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Yes thanks Jellie, don't feel quite so bad this year. We went to the sales this morning and I spent 0p :j
This afternoon I have been sorting my self employed paperwork out so I can start the year organised. Having a little break from logging all in my spreadsheet.
About to overhaul my finances now. Then perhaps start on a meal plan for January.0 -
I'm not big on the sales either. You've motivated me to spend the next half hour working out finances and setting OP targets for a couple of months. I think once you do that you always try and see if you can do a bit more.
Kettle on first though!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Well done..
I have been thinking about my goals, financial and otherwise this afternoon. There are a couple of biggies that I want to achieve next year
- Have a foreign holiday ( we haven't had one yet in five years as a family so will combine honeymoon and holiday together. I think the majority of the money will come from wedding pressies for this so not too worrying financially.
- Replace two of the following - bathroom, front door, patio doors. I want all three but realistically cannot do it all so it'll be on a needs must basis as the money gets together. If I manage one I WILL be happy.
- Declutter my home and keep it looking nice. I am aiming to work on a one in one out basis with extras on top.
- Have at least 2k in flexi savings which can be dipped in and out of as needs arises (cars, small appliances, general random emergencies, photos etc etc)
- Overpay by at LEAST £50 per month (this will shave 3 years off the term)
- Save for Disney in 2012. I missed out on taking DD1 and I would love to take DD2 as well as a more grown up DD1 (you're never too old for Disney)
There may be more to this list....0
