Divorcee remarrying in Catholic church?

Best thing imo as being married in the catholic faith is more than choosing somewhere pretty for the wedding photos.
I do not understand this response to the post you quoted.
At least being married in C of E is still being married in the eyes of 'God'
what has that got to do with 'somewhere pretty for the wedding photos'
some civil weddings are in beautiful places.0 -
Thank you poppyoscar. You're right, my local Catholic church is a dump compared to the CofE one nearby.0

Well it's worked out well all round then!0

Well - not really if what she wanted was to marry in her faith and not the best place for the photos.0 -
Hi Poppyoscar,
The girl in question is not Catholic. It is her fiance who is Catholic. She appears to be CofE and has already been married in the CofE Church. The issue is that the RC Church doesn't think you can be married twice in the eyes of God (even IF your first marriage was only in a CofE Church)
Depending on the local CofE Vicar, he may take the same stance as the RC Church, so again I would advise the OP to contact both the RC and CofE Church to get a definitive ruling on the whole situation.0 -

Thank you.
Sorry should have said 'he'.
Yes I agree they should contact the local priest to find out the exact situation in their circumstances.0 -

Dear Lord. Aren't we all?
Just a quick update. The girl has now spoken to her CofE minister who has welcomed her with open arms and said there's no problem whatsoever regarding marrying in the CofE church.
How refreshing is that? Just a smile and "Yes, of course, what date were you thinking of?"
Surely THAT sort of welcome is the Christian way?0 -

This thread is proof of why all religions are dangerous, and ultimately involve a lot of brainwashing.
BTW, my MIL is a practising Catholic, DH was brought up Catholic, and I'm a divorcee. Civil ceremony, in, out, no worries.
Hit the nail on the head - well done for speaking up, I totally agree.Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

Thanks!
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.0
