I havent read every post admittedly but am I right in the idea is to work less between holidays?
I used to have a week off every 3 months...thus working approx 11 weeks then having a week off.........? have I missed the point completely here? Or is this a bit like the advert that tells you to go left at the teapot?
working less days between holidays is better than working more days between holidays and so if its better it must have some value.0 -
A good technique for those with with flexible holidays is to book them on just about every occasion you would conceivably need them, then cancel the ones you don't want nearer the time. This makes it look like you are deciding to work in preference to taking a holiday. It also avoids having to book them at short notice such as ahead of a bid or other rush job on.

Its strange how people end up using personal insults when they realise reach the end of their understanding. But I will try to explain one more time.
This post is trying to identify a better way of taking your annual leave entitlement in a way that minimises the number of days that have to be worked between holidays.
If you take the same 22 days every year the number of days worked between your holidays would be 11 months BUT if you book your holidays slightly earlier every year then the number of days worked from the first day back in work until your next holiday will be less.
It can't be more clear ....... or can it????0 -

The system does work, mumbles_one, so your £500 should be safe.
But it only works in that it fulfills the self-proclaimed aims.
It would be like declaring that
"If you really want a payrise then when you build a fence use 5 posts."
and then 5 pages into the discussion claim that, yes, it's only true when you've got 4 panels but that's how many you've got. In which case using 5 posts would be better than any other number and so must represent some value and so is equivalent to a payrise.
It doesn't help anyone with 3 or 5 panels, and doesn't tell anyone with 4 panels anything they didn't already know.0 -

I joined my first company and they took 4 weeks break in august. no use.
The second company allowed flexible holidays I started in October. I told them I needed 4 weeks in August as I used to go camping in France. So I worked 10 months Oct -> July and took my month. The following year I took July and went camping in France again. (better weather). Started back in August and the following year took June . Could have gone on doing this but then I took up skiing so took 2 weeks end of January and 2 weeks end of July . I then started backing the weeks every year for the next 20 years working with different companies. It has always paid off and never has been noticed by HR. never stayed too long with companies so they get wise and always told the new company that I needed holidays starting 10 months after joining. Just try it and see . It works
