  • So don't stay in the same company more than 10 years. My advice is 4 years. One year to learn job , two years to train for better job and then one year to find that better job.
  • most employees accrue holidays somewhere between 2 days and 2.5 days per month
    at 2 days per month you get 24 days per year which gives you 1 day short of 5 weeks
    at 2.5 days per month you get 30 days which is 6 weeks per year

    so after 10 months working you have accrued a minimum of 20 days which if you include the 2 days you get for the 11th month you have 22 days ( enough to get a month off)

    of course you can have accrued more days holiday than the 22 you need for a months holiday so use them using the same reduction cycle to get best results
  • please give this a lot of thought before dismissing it. Its the most efficient method of using holidays to your advantage rather than not using them. I have explained this many times and its a hard concept to take on in one sitting. Eventually you like all the others will come around and start using this.

    The minimum holidays is 5.6 weeks, or 28 days for someone working 5 days per week.

    which gives you 1 day short of 5 weeks

    But in that case all you have done is take all your holidays before the end of the year. You won't be entitled to any more until the start of the new holiday year.
  • I think you are talking about if you are on a contract with someone. I have 25 days holiday per year. I can carry over 5 days but must use them by March. If I were to leave now I may get a day's holiday pay that I have, as you say "accrued" but if I had taken all my holidays now and leave I would owe the company money as I have used my whole year's holiday yet there are 5-6 weeks left of the year so I would owe them a couple of days pay which they would take out of my final pay from them.

HR couldn't care less.So every 10 months take 22 days leave and get a month off. IS IT CLEAR NOW??? the average Joe works 11 months then gets 1 month off while you work 10 months and get 1 months off . Now it must be clear. Or maybe not. You don't have to leave the company after 10 months. Stay as long as you like but every 10 months you will get a month off while everyone else works 11 months and gets one month off

    Lets try and understand this, lets assume a holiday year is jan to december...
    erm so you take a month off in january, work 10 and then have decemeber off, what firm is going to let you do that.... lol

    Doesnt work at all if you add up the number of years worked and the number of days taken it will be the same as someone who has august off every year.

    No because you still work december, but don't get any holidays for it because you used them in November.

    I think what you are trying to say is, once you have used up a years worth of holidays the HR give you another years worth. So by using a years worth every 10 months you are gaining more holidays.

    In your example, you use your holidays in November and in December the HR top them back up to a full years worth again.
  • I am not trying to get more holidays . I am just reducing the number of days I work between holidays. I have never worked for a company for longer than 10 years but these days who has??? and who would plan to stay with a company for 10 years. and what company will be still here in 10 years. Do you think a company would come and tell you 4 years in advance that they were thinking of moving production to China??? of course they wouldn't. Once a company has taken all the start up grants they can get then off they go and start up somewhere else. There is a long list.
    Just remember the smartest inventor we have moved his vacuum cleaner plant somewhere more profitable.

    My advice is don't stay longer than 4 years. One year to learn job , two years to train for better job and then one year to find that better job.

    But meanwhile 10 months between holidays is better than 11 months .
