Hi from a thick person???
lets explain again slowly for all those with reading difficulty.

1. Suppose you have a job where you only have 1 day holiday per year
that would mean you work 364 days and get 1 day holiday. Is that clear???
2 . the first year you work 364 days and take 31 december and you realise that it is going to be another 364 days until your next holiday on december 31 . Is that clear???
3. So the second year you take you holiday on 30 december . Is that clear???

so now you have only worked 363 days until your 1 day holiday instead of 364. If you keep moving your holidays a little earlier every year then you work less days between your holidays.

which is better 364 days then 1 day holiday or 363 days then get 1 day holiday???

can I go out now or do I have to explain this more simply???

You still get 1 day holiday per calendar year, your "system" doesn't gain you any extra holidays.

but you get less working days between holidays. would you rather 1 day every 363 days or 1 day every 364 days???
(this is just an example for all people who are a bit slow in the morning)

It wouldn't make any difference to me and once you get to the stage where your holiday is in January then you're stuck and who wants holidays in January every year? Not me for a start.

Also, if you took your entire years holiday in January and then left the company (as you suggest) then the company will take the extra holiday pay out of your final pay packet.

These are just examples of how the system works. You have to decide when to take your holidays to suit your particular circumstances but just taking your holidays one day earlier every year will help . The earlier you can take your holidays the better. My case of using one month suited the employment contract I had but every case will be different . Please all you guys that ridiculed this system its time to take back the insults.

But the time after the holiday when you are not entitled or accruing holidays gets longer each time.

Nobody who has worked would want to be in the position of having used up their years worth of holidays in the first month and are now facing having to work for 11 months just to pay back the holidays they have used up in the first month.

How many days pay will they lose in 11 months through having to take unpaid holidays because of an unseen emergency? One of the kids gets sick, the central heating breaks down, can't make it to work because of a transport strike or bad weather?

If you'd ever worked, you would know the last thing people want is to have no holidays left.

It doesn't matter WHEN someone takes their holiday, everyone is entitled to X amount of days off in a 12 month period.

Who gives a !!!!!! if Dave takes his off in February and Jane takes hers off in October.

If someone can do what you are saying, they seriously must have no life to know they won't want or need to take their holidays at any other time of the year, and how many companies allow employees to take a month off at a time anyway??

I am not saying to everyone to use this system the same way as me. Just take your holidays slightly earlier every year to get some benefit

No it's not, you are just focusing on what you think is a good point, getting your holiday earlier, and not seeing the bad point of having to work longer before accruing more holidays.

You also don't realise that most people don't just take their holidays for the sake of taking them. They take them when they want or need to take them. When they have booked a holiday away, for a relatives wedding, taking the bank holiday week off because you need to take less days to get a whole week off, saving some days to take off between xmas and new year. Saving some for emergencies etc.

Using up all your holidays just to be able to say you worked 10 months between holidays instead of 11 is just plain stupid.No person in the world works 11 months then takes all their holidays in one go anyway. They take them throughout the year as an when they need/want to.

When you grow up and get a job you will see that.
