Think he knows he's in a deep hole.
I think what happened here is, his friend told him this 'system', he fell for it hook-line and sinker, someone told him it was nonsense, he argued it wasn't, now he's completely convinced himself that it actually works and can't back down.

No f*cker in the world saves up their holidays and takes the last month of the year off.
What they do is spread their holidays throughout the year, maybe take easter week of to be with the kids, a couple of weeks in the summer, save a week for the winter months and emergencies.

As you seem to know everyone in the world I must ask this question Do you know anyone from Scandinavia? Ask them about holidays just about everyone takes one month off in June or July . Try going to Paris in August. Its practically closed as everyone is on holiday for a month. The list is long0 -

NO days are accrued every month according to your contract of employment. work a month you get 2 + days into your holiday pot0 -

If my holidays run from Jan to Dec and I take a month off in March, I won't accrue anymore holiday will I as I will have taken my allowance and I will have to work for the rest of the year knowing I will have no more holidays owed to me!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

You start work in January, stay there 5 full years. Sounds reasonable, right?
Year 1 - You work 11 months, have 1 month holiday in December
Year 2 - You take 1 month holiday in November, you have worked 10 months since your last holiday.
***Year 2 is the important bit, come October in year 2 you will been in that job for 22 months and had 1 month holiday******
So you stay there for 12 years, there's only 10 months between holiday if you take each year a month earlier, but that's because you only had 1 month holiday in the first 22 months!
Is it clear? You need to work the 'additional months' at the beginning, in essence, to build up the holiday pot you're going to take advantage of in the following years.
After 5 years, you will have being in the job 60months and had 5 months holiday.
The ONLY way you can gain from your system is if you take your full entitlement in the final year, leave immediately after, and your employer does not want you to pay back the holiday you are now not entitled to.
