I wonder if it has been fixed. I went today and got quite a few tins, crisps, nuts, along with a lot of other stuff which I will need for Christmas - all 3 for 2's, or 2 for so much. It was embarrassing in the queue for paying, putting it all on the conveyor, then packing it all up again, etc. Then, bit of a shock, the total was £107 and after all the 3 for 2's and so on, and the 50% voucher, it was still £57!!! I know that's good but not as good as I'd hoped. They obviously haven't knocked 50% off everything.

I didn't go mad but I did get things that perhaps I wouldn't normally and I hadn't the nerve to question it. I just paid up and packed it all up and trudged back to the car. When I got home and unpacked it all there doesn't seem to be that much for £57. Going to look carefully through my receipt now and check what exactly I did get. All I'm saying is, be careful, don't be surprised if you have to pay more than others have reported above.

I'm glad this has happened to someone else. I was beginning to think I was the only one who didn't get a bargain. I know I was overcharged but M and S is quite a drive away and I didn't buy that much also I can't be bothered to go in and argue. Too many other things going on right now. I'd be interested to know if you were overcharged though.

I had 1 of these 50% off vouchers which started today. Off we went 20 miles away to stock up. We only put cans jars crisps and nuts in the trolley, total at check out came to £84. After voucher was taken off it still came to £55. After checking receipt I saw it had 50% off but underneath this it said 20% off with a 20% off value. The multi buys and bogof were taken off. I went to helpdesk and assistant went to check in the checkout bin and found the 50% off voucher, but managed to convince me this was correct. On the way home I again checked my receipt and it was only 20% off not 50%. I have since rang store, but have to go back in to get it sorted out. So check your receipts.

I managed to get back to M and S today, I went to the helpdesk and she immediately gave ne a a credit voucher for £25 valid for a year. This was about the difference between the 20% and 50% i should have had. Another assistant explained they had had quite a lot of customers this had happened to.

I used my voucher today. Having read the reports on here about the problems with the discounts, I wondered if I would have a problem, so restrained my shop. Big mistake as everything went through fine - £55 reduced down to £7 as I had bought a few full price items. The SA was as pleased as me with the final price.

I have had to spend some time tonight sorting out my cupboard in the spare bedroom (which is full of Waitrose "freebies" from January) to make room for this shop.

I am thinking of doing another smaller shop as even without the 50% some of the current offers are worth getting.

Thanks to all the posters on here for the various tips - hope they repeat this one next year.

I still have my 20% voucher off to use on Tins etc, just trying to ready myself for looking out all the bargains.......my M&S foodhall is not very nice and is quite small!
  • thank you so much, startedsaving!

I saw this voucher when it arrived and wasn't even going to bother - our local M and S Simply food is pretty small.

But I have just come home with £47 worth of things for £8! they really have taken the 50% off before all the other discounts - couldn't believe it!

I am particularly looking forward to the two (completely free) tubs of hickory smoked almonds and macademias - I would never consider buying them at 6.99 each though...

    Cheers!

I don't work for M&S or have shares in, so this advice is genuinely given.

Apply for an M&S credit card.
Even if you only use it when shopping in M&S.
These vouchers are issued to card holders.
Apparently completely random who gets which one ( like Boots Advantage card machine), but I think it is on the basis of those who uses it least in M&S gets the best offers..... to encourage you to go shopping there.
I used my 50% off - buying over £100 worth of goods for the grand total of £23 - and that inc coffee, tea, jams and marmalades which were not on any other linked deals, as well as the crisps, nuts, soups, relishes, chutneys, mincemeat and other bits.
Today I treated the family to the £10 meal deal - which only cost me £8.15*,because I had a voucher for 10% off ( which finishes tomorrow) all food, drink and flowers.
You also get invited to special shopping events ( though my Christmas one was a bit of a damp squib), and your spending on the card earns you points..... which gets you vouchers, much like Tesco points/vouchers.

But if anyone from M&S are reading, and want to give me commission for MSE peeps signing up.... pm me :D

By the way, I have had an M&S credit card for over 20 years ( I am an OLD bag;))

*p.s 10% was off the total value of the meal deal before the offer kicked in. In my case the value was £18.46...... wine was £6.99 alone !

I have just used my voucher and got £140 down to £31 :j:j:j

Won't be buying any sauces/mustards etc for a while!
  • There are two different versions of till software that M&S use so that's why there is a variation in how the deals work out.
  • I only got the 20% voucher but will be using it this week.
I have the premium club card, anyone know when it is going up to 15 a mth or is it just for new sign ups, will it stay at 10 if you already have it?

Brilliant at 10, not so sure at 15. Nearly ran out of coffee vouchers already! What will I do until Feb???
