M&S card - voucher 50% off jars, tins etc

This happened to my mum today. She had the 50% off but it appears the till only took 20% off. So after they dug the coupon out the bin to check it and got the manager down who checked it all and agreed with us it should 50% he instructed someone to refund mum the full amount and put it all back through doing a price override to give the 50% off. He also said he would need to contact head office tomorrow, not open today, to make them aware of the problem.

What really annoyed us was the other staff continued to query whether all we had bought should have 50% off, they tried to say it was only selected items in throughout the crisps, nuts, tins, jars, tea and coffee and even when I pointed out how it couldn't be that as they'd have to have the items marked out or no-one would know what to was included in the offer. Bottom line is the voucher clearly stated it was 50% off crisps, nuts, tins, jars, tea and coffee and the manager had checked it and explained but still the staff whinged at us!!!

Anyway it looks like M&S have messed up programming their tills for these vouchers.

Hi Sorry you got nothing much, that sounds crap !! i will say they werent keen to dish out the food as i had to ask for a serviette to put the food in and then ask what had happened to the manicure girl. I havent been to one before so had no expectations. They do seem to have made a mess with these 50% off vouchers so will see how I get on with that.

Following on from my post yesterday just had closer look at the receipt to find whilst they gave us the 50% off they didn't honour any of the deals like BOGOF nuts and £2 for £2.50 crisps so we lost out on about £3ish.

Thanks very much for pointing out this offer. I hadn't even noticed that voucher. I went in to M&S this afternoon and managed to get £99 worth of crisps, nuts, jars, tea and coffee for about £27 - fantastic bargain! The SA was stunned, and I was quick to pack up and leave before she queried the total with the manager - however all above board according to the voucher.

I can confirm that the 50% discount voucher does work along with the 3for2 offers and BOGOFs. I went to my local M&S foodstore today. Got a selection (35 items) of tins, jars, tea, coffee, nuts and crisps. Total before savings £43.68. It then took off the 3for2 and BOGOFs and 50% DISCOUNT and I had to pay the balance of £13.32.

Very pleased :-)

Tins of various nuts at £4.99 on BOGOF, loads of chutneys and sauces are all BOGOF, the Christmas special preserves - jams, more 'special' chutneys, fudge sauces, chocolate mincemeat, 'special' apple sauce, jars of preserves in alcohol, ginger marmalade, liqueuer marmalade (that last one is especially good!!!) ar all on 3 for 2.

Each of the above groups are displayed on their own promotional stands so you won't have any trouble finding them. Don't get ALL BOGOF stuff though - you'll end up with a zero bill and they won't let you out of the store!

I stocked up on food cupboard essentials. Soup (3for2), tinned toms, kidney beans, tuna, jams, condiments (BOGOF), pasta sauces, cooking sauces, baked beans etc. Also got teabags and coffee. Tubs of nuts (BOGOF) and packets of crisps.
It only includes M&S own brand items.

I wonder if it has been fixed. I went today and got quite a few tins, crisps, nuts, along with a lot of other stuff which I will need for Christmas - all 3 for 2's, or 2 for so much. It was embarrassing in the queue for paying, putting it all on the conveyor, then packing it all up again, etc. Then, bit of a shock, the total was £107 and after all the 3 for 2's and so on, and the 50% voucher, it was still £57!!! I know that's good but not as good as I'd hoped. They obviously haven't knocked 50% off everything.

I didn't go mad but I did get things that perhaps I wouldn't normally and I hadn't the nerve to question it. I just paid up and packed it all up and trudged back to the car. When I got home and unpacked it all there doesn't seem to be that much for £57. Going to look carefully through my receipt now and check what exactly I did get. All I'm saying is, be careful, don't be surprised if you have to pay more than others have reported above.
