Morning all!
Fanta - I haven't heard anything about loud noise in pregnancy but you just be at the time your baby's ears are developing. Do you have a phone no to call your midwife or maternity unit? Usually they have a line so you can ask questions rather that have to make an appointment.
Well, baby is still breech despite all the contortions I've been getting myself into so I've made an appointment to see an acupuncturist tonight to teach me moxibustion. Hopefully that may turn things around! But at least it can't do any harm. If that doesn't work then I've got an appointment next mon and if he is still breech then, I'll go for an appointment for the obstetrician to try to turn the baby.
Breast feeding antenatal class last night. Feeling a bit more confident about that now but the class went on till 10.40pm and we had half an hours drive home so felt exhausted after that and doesn't help that now I can't sleep!
Hope you all have a good day!0 -
I have 2 sessions (next week and another 2 weeks later) then I see the midwife. There is one girl who drummed until she was 20 weeks and then she had to give up due to SPD. I really enjoyed it and have waited ages to join so would hate to give it up before I get good. I've got a drum at home too so can ask the midwife and give her a demo!
Poor you and how late was that ante-natal class???!!! Can imagine you snoozed on the way home!
I have decided to stay awake when DH gets up rather than go back to sleep which is my usual script and wake up feeling knackered. Only thing is I feel sleepy now!

Fanta - it was ridiculously late! But we got lost 3 times on the way there when my oh took the wrong route so I didn't dare snooze on the way home or else I thought he'd never find his way home!0

Mine too! Bump is grumbling a bit tonight.
Do you think drumming is bad for baby? I've just started and have opted for a small drum which I'm wearing lower than my waist (It's a brazillian samba band). I've come home tonight thinking...it's loud that we wear ear plugs to play...will my belly be enough soundproofing not to damage babys ears?
Hi there,
I work as a musician and am regularly in situations where I need to wear ear-plugs, so I've been thinking about this too. Since I've been pregnant I haven't yet played in anything as loud as a samba band....
A couple of years ago I was playing in a group with a colleague who was about 6 months pregnant (all very loud, everyone wearing earplugs). She could really feel her baby reacting to the sound and it didn't feel normal to her (it was her 2nd), so she stopped playing and went home. She was really upset - it must have been quite bad as in our job it has to be pretty extreme to leave on the day of the concert when it's too late to find a replacement (although of course all colleagues and management were totally supportive). And her little girl is fine BTW..
I would imagine that in most cases the baby's ears would be fine - there's a lot of stuff between the sound and their ears, but I think it's a good idea to call the midwife and ask.
I've decided that if I'm in a really loud gig, I will see how it goes and would leave immediately if I feel that the baby's reacting unusually.0 -
Fanta I'm not sure if a drum is different as it's right next to your belly, but when preggers with both ds and dd I went to loads of loud concerts and am going to see James on the 17th of Dec when I'll be 22 weeks.
I always felt the babies move during them but it never harmed them. Ds came out a music lover and is never without his guitar or drums, or having a dance or a sing.
Just phone your MW for your piece of mind.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
PC,
Where abouts are you?? I wanna come, it sounds just fine!!!
I went into town (Aberdeen) today to pick some stuff I'd ordered online up from Mamas and Papas and use up a £5 code I had and they had lovely black coats reduced from £50 to £25 so I got it for £20!!! Winner.
Hi Coops.
Did they have a few in stock? Would be after a size 14 I think. I'm officially bursting out of my coat nowand it's supposed to snow this week. Might pop up at lunch time for a nosey.
Sounds like there are enough of us from the Aberdeen/shire area to start our own bump & baby group:rotfl:.
30 weeks tomorrow and we have our first antenatal class tonight...'preparing for birth'. Feels like another big milestone reached.
DH and the baby have decided to bond in the middle of the night. The last 2 nights I've woken up to baby kicking me like mad and DH with his hands on my belly laughing his head off.

Morning Ladies, just a quick update from me before I take DD to school.
I have been overwhelmed by all your messages of support but after our talk last night, I've realised what an absolute tool my OH is!
He did man up though and said the fault was all his, it's all in his head and he has some vain concept of how he wants me to be. Like I was 14 years ago when he desired me apparently. He said he knows it's wrong but he can't help how he feels and he has felt like this for years. I've told him he needs some sort of councelling as there is so much more to life he is missing out on if this is all he is focusing on.
I also told him it was cruel to say such hurtful things whilst I was pregnant and he tried to blame me for bringing it up but he did say he didn't say anything before as he doesn't like confrontation and he knew I would be upset and angry.
So after many hours of talking and crying (on both parts) he has promised he will try harder but somehow I doubt it but if he doesn't he is the one who is going to lose out in the long run and not myself and the children all for some concept of what might make him happy. I have asked him to see how he feels after the little fella gets here and he said he will, but I am not going to mope and worry until then. I am going to try and enjoy the remainder of my pregnancy.
I felt I was quite dignified by not sinking down to his level apart from when I asked him if I kept on about his physical flaws (thinning hair and man boobs) he would feel so good about himself. I know this hit a nerve because he mentioned liposuction for himself on a few occasions after I made this comment. Naughty I know but I think I got my point across.
Anyway, I have a more important man in my life to look after, the one I'm carrying.
Have a good day all ladies and bumps and hope all goes well today CL xxVirtual Sealed Pot 2013 #41 - £69.27OJ born 25/01/110 -

This is the most important point. Well done for making him face up to his inadequacies. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
I'm sorry ladies, this is a completely (well, almost completely) non-pregnancy related moan, but I'm having to be so nice and calm and coping about it with DH and our parents because they are all worrying, that I just need a bit of a rant.
We have been looking for a house to buy for 2 years, and in August this year, we had an offer accepted on a really lovely house with a nice garden, and even a spare bedroom. We liked it so much that we went over the asking price to beat a cash buyer, and it was all going through, but slowly. We paid out hundreds and hundreds of pounds for surveys, solicitors etc, and were finally due to exchange contracts this week, and complete a week later, and move into our lovely new house. However, our solicitor discovered last week that the ****** seller never got planning permission for the house to exist as it is (it used to be one property with the attached shop, and they split it off and sold it separately - and never got planning permission for the change of use).
And what's worse, our solicitor has done some digging, and it's clear that both the seller and the estate agent knew this from the beginning. In fact, the conversation OH had with the EA yesterday started with "so, I understand you've found the problem with the house then...." The seller actually has an insurance policy covering him against getting sued by the council.
I am so gutted, and so is OH. We live in a tiny 2 bed rented house at the moment, and we spent an hour last night trying to work out where we could squeeze in a cot for baby, and a chest of drawers for her clothes. Poor DS is going to end up with his entire (tiny) room taken over by my chest of drawers and baby's, because there is just physically no other place they can go. If we put the cot in our room, OH has to climb over the bed to get in and out of the room, and we have to get rid of all my clothes storage to fit it in at all.
We are lucky that we hadn't given notice on the rented house yet (although landlord still thinks we are moving, need to let him know... and that we seem to have found a superb solicitor, who smelled a rat and has done a huge amount of work to find out what's going on. I swear she knows the colour of this guy's underpants, as well as every dodgy deal he's done in the past 5 years).
Right, must get my positive hat on now, got to get me and DS breakfast, we are running late, and then swimming, then have to get on with dealing with all the fallout
Hope everyone's well today xx0 -

Yeh was going to ask if you were married to Brad Pitt!
Good on you anyway. Had problems with my DH, he recently spent a week at his mums, again having unusual expectations and been a damn loon. Told him this is his last chance. Hey dear, don't they realise we pregnant women just don't need this!:(:heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0
