I will get to the bottom of it later but I have a feeling that its not going to be good whatever it is.

BTW - I was a size 12 last Christmas when I stopped taking the pill and was size 14 when I got pregnant in May and I've only put a stone on so far and I'm 30 weeks on Saturday and I'm still in some of my pre-pregnancy tops/PJ's so I think all the weight is all baby.

    Grateful - I'm 5'4" so I'm about average.

Hi SA. Just wanted to put a slightly different perspective on things. I'm not going to condone what he has said though, and he needs to know that it's upset you.

Some men want to help us but go about it in the wrong way. He may realise that you aren't always happy with your weight yourself, so thinks that he is being helpful by commenting on it in order to 'encourage' you to be proactive. I do know men like that, and it can be quite a shock to them when you explain that it's really not helpful. Or he could be feeling insecure at the moment. You've got a lot of things happening in your life that he's not as much a part of as you are. Easier for him to push you away with hurtful comments than to admit that he's insecure (I do this to DH so I know how easy it is to do).

Or he could just be an a***biscuit. Have a chat with him and you'll soon know deep down whether he's thinking like a silly man, being insecure, or being horrid.
If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:

    Hi Coops.
Did they have a few in stock? Would be after a size 14 I think. I'm officially bursting out of my coat now :o and it's supposed to snow this week. Might pop up at lunch time for a nosey.

Sounds like there are enough of us from the Aberdeen/shire area to start our own bump & baby group :p :rotfl:.

30 weeks tomorrow and we have our first antenatal class tonight...'preparing for birth'. Feels like another big milestone reached.

DH and the baby have decided to bond in the middle of the night. The last 2 nights I've woken up to baby kicking me like mad and DH with his hands on my belly laughing his head off :D.
    Hiya,
Yeah they had loads and I saw a couple of 14s. Check out the rest of the rails as there isn't a set section of sale items, they are in about all the rest.
Coats are on the left just as you go in near the bottom.
    Hope that helps.

  • Hey 1stbaby,
I'm also 38 and due my first little one in march. I also work shifts.
    Welcome.
I guess we will both have loads of things to ask as time goes on and this is a great place for getting those answers.
Not sure what the script will be for classes. OH has told me he doesn't want to come along with me which I'm finding a bit upsetting. He's a wonderful man but not terribly good with showing emotions. I think he'll be next to no use during the labour and if he doesn't come to classes he will really be useless.
He did offer his mother to stand in for him and much as I like his mum, he couldn't understand why I said no thanks. Grrr men!!!

  • Oh tink, you'll have a wee girl by the end of the week. How cool is that!!!

@lilian - my soap nuts arrived today! Oh and thanks for the PM - didn't get round to responding, but thanks, you are a star.

Let me know what you think of them :)

Hugs, labour vibes, sticky vibes to all that need them - sorry I don't have much time to read back as I'm at work, but just to say that I hope everyone's OH's buck up their ideas soon!

Wondering whether to go to the MW drop in centre tomorrow, not been feeling many movements although I have felt a few - I wonder whether it's just because I'm nearly 31 weeks and he's running out of room? I've felt 4 distinct movements today, I know they say 10 a day is what you're looking for so going to keep counting. I don't have an appointment at 31 weeks because I have my placenta scan at 32 weeks - so maybe I'm just being paranoid because the gap is so long. Hmmm.

  • I have a growth scan at 14:45 today I'm going to ask for a gender re-check as at the 20 week scan the sonographer said he only gave her a quick flash fingers crossed he hasn't lost his winky as I have been spending on all things blue.

My DH once told me I was fat in a fairly subtle way (for him anyway) he said "you can't wear jeans any more" why I asked? "look at your bum and see!" was his reply

Tinkwings, our babies could be sharing a birthday (although I really hope mine will be here tomorrow and won't make me wait until Thursday). I can't believe when I leave home this evening, the next time I will be back I'll have our baby with me. We also get the surprise of whether it will be a girl or a boy.

I think my mum is going to have a nervous breakdown. She worries so much about us and gets herself so upset if she thinks that we are upset or in pain, but she is really looking forward to having another grandchild. She already has 6, but the youngest just turned 7 last week, so she is ready for another baby.

  • Hey Tink - we could also be sharing a baby birthday! I go in to start induction tomorrow. I'm getting really nervous. Mainly because I am worried I won't make it and something awful will happen between now and tomorrow!! I keep having to sit on sofa inbetween the house to feel movements! Paranoia or what?!!
