Just watched OBEM on sky+. How vomit inducing were the luvvy-duvvy couple and i never want to hear Dirty Dancing soundtrack again!
I loved teh Polish girl, she was fab. I don't feel so bad now about being so conscous of crapping myself.
Male midwife was brilliant and had me in tears at the end. DD was a bit surprised and exclaimed "the baby came from her bottom!!" She's only 3, didn't think i needed to explain how babies come out yet...also, didn't think she was paying much attention to the tv, how wrong was i? She seems convinced that our baby is coming in 2 days, although yesterday she said he'll be here in 5 days +2 days. Ah well, don't think i'll be watching it with her around again!
Was training some new hires at work yesterday and also the girl who is taking over my job, she seems lovely but its really hitting home now, i only have 2.5 weeks left at work and 4 weeks and 6 days til edd. Will no doubt go over, but its still scary to think that in 7 weeks i will be holding my baby!
Have any of you overdue or close to due date ladies being using clary sage oil? Isn't that supposed to help bring things along?
I made up a concoction yesterday, so that its ready for when i need it of sweet almond oil, along with clary sage, lavendar and jasmine. The fumes sent bubs mad and he was kicking like crazy, so i do beleive it must have some effect, just not sure what
Good luck to those who are due/overdue. Lets have some more births and pics please.xx
Just added my ticker.....uterus....1000x its original size!!!!:)Henry James Born 18/03/2011-11 days late!:)

Nic, was it this site you wanted? http://www.homebirth.org.uk/
My hospital birth last time, although there was plenty to criticise in other ways, I was encouraged to do whatever felt natural in terms of moving around and positions for birth - I spent most of the later contractions standing up leaning on OH, and gave birth squatting on a bed, so definitely not strapped to a bed.
Not feeling like anything's going to happen today, so going to be brave and go shopping with my mum today - we will go to the town near the hospital, and there are always taxis if anything starts (both midwife and I think there is potential for this one to be quick, so I'm being a bit cautious about being a long way from home).
Also planning to take some final bump pictures today - my mum has a lovely one of me and her the day before my little brother was born - I'd love a similar one with DS and bump, but he just doesn't stay still long enough! I do have a photo of us on my EDD, but I was wearing a big down jacket and giving DS a piggyback, so it's not very flattering :rotfl:0 -
:o PS sorry if that came across a bit ranty, it is something I feel strongly about, just trying to get it written and get on with work at the same time!!:o
Ok is it bad that it all made sense to me and wasn't ranty at all :rotfl:
And I want my ticker!!! how did you get that jojo lolThe pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -

lol! :rotfl:- I don't think anyone will force you to lie on your back
I've never given birth naturally myself so go with the flow I reckon0 -

Ema, it wasn't ranty at all, no need to apologise. It all makes sens. They said to me when i was having dd, that it would happen much quicker if i was up and walking or standing etc. I gave birth standing, leaning against the edge of the bed.
RBG, you have to go to http://tickers.baby-gaga.com/pregnancy.php, then copy and paste the lbb code link on the page when you've clicked "get my ticker". You can select a development ticker or humor ^ that one was humor
I've never been able to set it as a signature, just have to add it when you feel like it.:)Henry James Born 18/03/2011-11 days late!:)

Morning everyone.
Talk about timing...my poor rabbit has taken a turn for the worse. She's had pasteurella ever since we got her and had some close to death moments. Last night she could hardly breathe so we wiped her nose for her but this morning she wasn't her usual self so I took her to the vet for antibiotics. Now she's on meds for the next 2-3 weeks which isn't ideal with me being ready to pop. So I could have 2 babies needing lots of attention!
She's perked up a bit since this morning (probably because she realises looking 'ill' means a trip to the vets!)
OH is putting up blinds today and he's broken the bracket. So now we have to go back to B&Q to get a replacement. What a pain. I think we should combine the trip with a visit to MacDonalds
And my nappies haven't arrivedI really thought they would come today
I read so many good reviews about fillyourpants and the quick delivery. Oh well. It's probably Royal Mail to blame. Also waiting on my reusuable wipes from the nappy lady.

Doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago that I was part of this list but here I am again. My DD was 1 last thursday and we've got another little one on the way - due 1st July.
Hope everyone is feeling as well as they can. Not been back at work from maternity leave long and had to come back after Christmas to tell my new boss the news that I would be leaving again. Everyone was pleased for us though even if it was a shock.

Afternoon ladies
Nic in case you decide for some reason on a hospital birth, I was encouraged to move around and in fact the only time I was lying down was at the very end. I'm not sure why she told me to do this as I was leaning over the back of the bed up to this point??? They also have balls etc you can use if you wish.
Evening Primrose Oil and Red Raspberry Leaf Tea"Evening primrose oil is an excellent source of prostaglandins, which we already determined readies your cervix for labor. It can be taken orally as soon as 34 weeks, and can be applied directly to the cervix at full term (36 weeks). The general recommendation is two 500mg capsules per day until week 38, at which time you increase to 3-4 per day. The entire capsule can be inserted vaginally (inserted just before bed, it will dissolve before the first time you wake to use the bathroom), or you can use the oil on your fingers for your perineal massage, then also rub on your cervix (assuming you can reach it). Applying directly to the cervix is optimal, but the beneficial ingredients are absorbed through the external skin or the stomach also.
Red raspberry leaf tea is a uterine tonic used by Native Americans for thousands of years. It tones your uterus by helping to "focus" your Braxton Hicks contractions. Think of its job as helping your uterus do more effective exercising while you are pregnant. (It helps to tone the uterus after delivery as well, shrinking it back to size more quickly and reducing bleeding.)
Neither of these actually causes labor to start!"
Hope this helps! I used RLT with DD and am planning on using both this time, I do believe it helped especially with the pushing stage, 2 pushes and DD was out
ETA: have taken bits of this statement out as I'm not sure of some of the things it mentioned (it originally said RTL could be taken from 6 weeks )"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0
