Morning, off work today and managed to get my first appointment with the midwife for today so work still don't know. Only thing is i've realised after booking it 3 weeks ago i now have no idea where i'm supposed to go or what will happen when i get there! Any ideas guys? The bit about where i have rung and left a message for someone to ring me back but what will happen when i get there?

OMG, good luck sarahangel. I can't believe all these people having babies.

I had a terrible night last night :( Woke up in the early hours with diawoowoo. Am determined not to get my hopes up that it's a special poo :) Then I spent the rest of the night determined not to throw up, so didn't get a lot of sleep :(

I just seem to be yo-yoing between good and bad night/days at the moment.

Hope I have a good one on Thursday as I've got plans.

Hugs Ecocelle my first booking in appointment was in the main maternity dept in the local hospital and I asked at reception when I got there and they told me where the clinic was being held. When you get there if it is anything like ours, you check in then go pee in a container so they can check your wee, they'll take your bloods and ask you questions about family background etc (this will be done without your partner as they will also ask about domestic abuse) my experience took about 3 hours but that was because the MW went on her tea at my appt time and then I had to see the consultant to discuss my underlying condition HTH xxxx

    Which appointment is this?

Sorry - going to blame lack of sleep :)

First appointment. From my experience on the less than 12 week thread they are all different. Mine was at my local GPs with a community midwife. It lasted about half and hour and she pretty much just filled in the yellow maternity book. She did attempt to take bloods (but I'm quite hard to get blood from) so I ended up making a separate appt with the nurses for that.

    Good luck Sarah!

Teenie, hope you get an appointment for DD, she's been poorly for a while now poor thing.

Well I had carp night again. Woke at 1.40 as usual, was still awake at 4. Plus I'm really annoyed as OH is off so decided to wake me up at 9, grr. If I ever get up early I tiptoe around so don't wake him. He said he'd thought he'd see if I was awake! Think he knows he is in trouble as just made me some toast.

Labour vibes to those that would like some xx

On another note, my 13 year old daughter (very mature) has mentioned that she'd like to be there when i have the baby. I automatically said no way, should i think about it a bit more? Would they let her in? On a positive note, it'll make sure she shows no interest in lads for years :)

My reaction would be the same. I would be worried that she would get frightenend at seeing me in pain, you would maybe then get stressed out about it. Also I'm sure it will be fine but if anything had to go wrong and more medical intervention was required how would you and your daughter cope with that?

On the other hand, it might make you feel calmer knowing that she is there and just kind of get on with it IYSWIM?

Ohh difficult decision, are you having a home birth?

    Good luck Sarah!

I had the most amazing sleep last night (sorry madbird not trying to rub it in) just wish I could have stayed in bed this morning instead of having to come to my freezing cold office!

Hope all big bumps and little bumps are well!

Thanks, it's my very first appointment with the mw, i'm at 8 weeks now, so i don't really know what to expect. Our system in this city seems a bit odd though. There are two doctors surgerys within 100 yards of each othe, i am at the one that uses a children's centre group of midwives on the other side of town, but if i was at the other one then i would just go to the surgery! Stupid really. I just thought i would go to the childrens centre but when i rang this morning they said i needed to ring the booking line midwife and check with her?

Hey don't worry, I'm glad most of you have slept! I'm just grateful I don't work anymore as I wouldn't make it in!
