Hi all!! Hope mums and bumps are all doing well!
I notice a few of you are after a gym/birthing ball-when i was in Mr S the other day i noticed they had some for 4 pound-I used one throughout pregnancy and early labour with ds 2-it was fab for relieving back ache. I was going to get one, because I lent mine to someone and I can't remember who so I can't ask for it backBut a friend of mine is going to lend me hers which saves me buying one-up until now i've been taking up a rather strange looking 'sumo' pose with my legs shoulder width apart, leaning forward with my hands resting on my thighs and kind of 'rocking' side to side :rotfl: I look a sight, but till I get my ball, it does the job lol I also bought my friends electric breast pump off her, as I find the manual ones such a faff, and she gave me 'mates rates'
lol
Now going to go and attempt to sort out the spare room and list the junk on ebay to make space for the baby bits i'm going to buy with the proceeds lol (and also cos dh said he won't get the baby stuff out of the loft till the room is empty lol)0 -

Have to admit I love Baby and bump, have made some really good friends through there. There can be some dramas on there and some really silly threads but I just choose not to read those.
Sorry that you feel that way Cutterby I know it is hard when the thread moves so hard but I have enjoyed having you around. I wish you all the best with your pregnancy *hugs*
I had a lovely suprise yesterday. It turns out that meeting our friend and her boyfriend was actually a decoy tactic by my DH.
We arrived at Revolutions bar and when we got there he told me that apparently the till had broken so our friends were upstairs. When we got up there waiting in the VIP room were about 25 of my female friends - he had spent the last 3 months organising me a secret
I had no idea so it was a total suprise, I burst into tears and couldn't believe how many people were there. We played some games and had some food platters, cocktails and mocktails for the other pregnant ladies there
DH's bosses girlfriend had made the most AMAZING Cake for us. It was a chocolate buttercream iced sponge. It had a seperate dome on the top which is also made of icing it had little stars cut out of it and round the outside it had all the jungle family characters which match the bedding and the moses basket we have brought for the baby around the edge and minature parrots (again all made of icing) scattered over the dome - she had taken them from the wall freeze which you can buy in Mothercare and hand cut them.
Inside the dome there was a little baby on a blanket and also a little camera as she knows I am into photography, again all made of icing.
She had then hand cut the words "Shaz and Dave and Baby C makes a Jungle Family" around the base of the cake in different colours.
The idea is the top dome can be kept and used as nightlight for the nursery as the icing will all keep. I've never seen anything like it before - the detail was just astounding and everyone was amazed with it.
We got so many lovely presents for both me and the baby. A friends mum had knitted a gorgeous blanket, another lady had hand made us a silk and cotton patchwork quilt. We had toilettries, clothes, bibs, blankets, toys - just so many things I was completely overwhelmed and all my friends joked that for the first time ever they saw me lost for words.
Hats off to all of them for managing to keep it a secret as I am quite on the ball usually. I blame my addled baby brain for my lack of detection
Anyway sorry for the massive post - was just such a lovely afternoon after thinking we had a very quiet weekend planned!
Wow, how wonderful! What a really lovely thing for them to do
I've had some salmon sandwiches for lunch and feel sick now. Tuna seems to be OK, but I think salmon is just too oily and baby objects. It's a shame 'coz normally we have poached salmon about once a week, but not had any in ages. The tinned stuff is actually worse. Hopefully I can keep it down as it would be good for me. Blergh.0 -
I used to fall off my ball, and it was horrible in labour. I couldn't sit down at all.
Dont think i'll get another one this time, especially with Lily around who will see it as a fantastic new toy lol0 -

I loved mine, but I am worried that DS 2 will think it is for his entertainment and chuck it round the house lol i'll just have to get it out after bedtime! lol0 -
Fairy how wonderful! That cake looks amazing!
sparkle Im getting a moses basket but as they are not in them for long Im going to borrow my sister's. I think the general consensous seems to be don't buy a brand new one for £40/£50 as they grow out of them too quickly - I have seen a few reasonable one's on Ebay.
Have spent the morning tidying the flat - I have no room for a baby. Really need to de-junk the spare bedroom and possibly Ebay some of my clothes. I have loads of dresses that I have only worn once but are too nice to get rid of. Realistically though im never going to wear them again so it makes sense to stick them on Ebay and put the money in my baby fund! Lets see how many weeks it takes me to find the motivation to take photographs of things and list them!
Wondering whether to put the single bed on Freecycle as that is where the cot will need to go or to keep it until baby is born just in case one of us needs a good night's sleep as baby will obviously be in our room for the first few months?:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Sparkle, I found Mothercare and Babies r us best for mattress choice. Maybe if anyone asks if they can buy you anything for the baby, you could ask for Mothercare vouchers and put it towards it.
Hngrymummy. Maybe a space hopper isn't such a bad idea. OH got a giant one as a joke gift a few years ago. Might help with not falling off it like EA says. I also found it hard to balance. I had to let some air out so it was flatter, it sat better then.
Nice to see some new faces from the 12 w thread. I was going to point out that Sunday is always a lot quieter on here so the best time to post and catch up.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
I dont read properly when i catch up, just skim through until something catches my eye

OK ladies I have a question....I know I am only 34 +2 but D day is fast approaching and my one fear is that my waters break somewhere that I am not prepared for lol.....my hubby made a point earlier for example and that is that he sees me ignoring any cramps as I am so used to stomach cramps with underlying bowel condition and I suffer from those and diawoowoo quite regularly (sorry if TMI) and he can imagine my waters breaking in say our living room which has a lovely cream carpet......I have some of those lovely little boots protectors which I will start using on the bed and in the car but seriously what the heck do you do when they go unexpectedly
sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I went for my nap this afternoon and because he had brought this into my head I didn't really doze at all lol
