According The Pregnancy Book (which is the NHS one) that just means that the baby's head has STARTED to drop. So 4/5 was palpable (which really is just a fancy word for felt) above the pelvis. It could still take quite some time to fully drop. So try to relax for now, chances are bubs is going to stick in there for a little while longer.A-Z Challenge: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

oooohhh so have I been getting it wrong? I thought 5/5 would mean fully engaged? So me being 2-3/5ths after last times 2/5 means baby is less engaged than he was? Not more? *confused*

Never had this, and can't say I've missed it:rotfl:dustystar02 wrote: »It is my OHs biggest fear that I may poop during labour. Honestly he's obsessed with talking about it. Tell him you will and there's no doubt. DH wasn't sure if he could stay in the room but he was fine. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Just updated my maternity and baby budget and we have spent £2 shy of a grand so far on stuff  Given that doesn't include two major items - we got a free travel system and still haven't bought a cot or indeed decorated a nursery that's a lot of dosh.
Nor have we got any bottles, sterilisers or feeding paraphenalia - cos mw's are very keen that you give breast feeding a good shot first.
It doesn't feel like we've bought a lot, anyone else keeping a spending tally and want to share/compare??
We've spent (or rather will spend when I've purchased the reusable nappies and wipes - budgeted about £300 for this including liners, bin, mesh etc)...£1263.58
We've bought most of it ourselves. I was given a changing bag for Christmas, and a friend has loaned us a bunch of white newborn clothes for the early days. And my mum bought the moses basket stand and some sheets.
The TENS machine was way overpriced (OH bought it for me and he's terrible for shopping around). Then we probably spent a further few pounds on cotton wool and bits that I forgot to put on my budget.

Ohh I wish i hadn't said anything now (especially if I'm completely talking out my backside) but a baby can become less engaged, it happened with me, in fact she popped right back out again
My book says being engaged is no indicator that birth is imminent anyway...even if fully engaged it could still be 2 weeks late.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -

Hi Ladies,
Sorry, I haven't read back yet - will do in a mo.
Hope everyone is well. I'm very excited as we finally chose and bought the cot today :j I had to take a drawer front in to the shop to make sure the colour matches and it does. It's a lovely M&P cot with changer top and drawer underneath.
And I got a fabby bargain. Went to Primark as I wanted 2 cheapie nighties and granny pants for my hospital bag. Couldn't find any suitable nighties with buttons, but looked in the sale section and they had short sleeved cotton nighties, knee length, with buttons on the front placket (good for undoing for BF'ing) for the bargainous price of £2 :money: And they're nice nighties too - not granny style at all. So I got 3. 1 which I'm wearing now and 2 that are in my hospital bag.
Also got big maternity pads from Boots, but that's not particularly exciting. But I did spend my £30 Boots points in the 75% sale, so got lots of lovely smellies for free :money:
Right, off to catch up with you chopsy lotx

If 4/5's are palpable then only 1/5 can be engaged. I don't think mw's are very clear when they explain these things, they tend to tell you how far engaged you are but then switch to what is palpable for your notes. I think this really confuses people.
That said, you know when you've dropped as it really is as Lilac said like having a bowling ball about to fall out of your bits. Anyway, just because you feel like you are about to drop doesn't mean it is gonna happen - I'm a prime example at 40+5!We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
