Sorry off topic but I just got my gas and electric bills...I've been paying direct debit £30 and £35 a month and they are going to increase my gas to £35 and electric to £46. That's nearly £200 more for a year! Have prices really gone up that much? I need to check last years units and see how many I used then. Suppose I have all the time in the world to have a good look into this and maybe switch.
We've just had ours put up by £5 a month each - I guess it's happening to everyone. From what I've been told, they'll discreetly wipe it off or fish it out of the birthing pool without telling you that you've just defecated.
All that pregnancy/ labour malarkey is just a like total loss of dignity, isn't it?
I wasn't best pleased when I found out I needed a catheter inserting when I had my epidural - although it didn't hurt and I realised that I could barely bend my legs so wouldn't exactly have been able to go to the loo! I know the likliehood is that I wont go early as this is my first but I am terrified of doing this on my own and have asked him to come home. I realised last night the thing I'm most scared about in regards to labour is the possibility that I might....*ahem* defecate during it as I hear that some people do. I mean what will the midwifes do if that happens?! Sorry... it's a bit of a TMI question.
Midwifes are well used to it. I think quite a lot of ladies poo while in labour as when you are at the pushing stage you push as if you are going to to do a poo:o They wont tell you if you have done it though and honestly at that point you trully wont care, all that will be on your mind is getting bubs out.
A girl at my work said that her DH told her she had done it:mad: if mine had said that to me he would have been out the door!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Thanks for all the responses regarding gas/elec. I guess it's different for everyone as we have different sized houses. I think I'm a little concerned as I expect it to go up anyway being at home now for a year, but now I have to consider that it's going to go up a lot more than I thought. I saw on one of the MSE articles about prices rising by 9% but my increase from £65 to £81 is quite a lot more than 9%. Annoyingly the website has been down all day so haven't been able to check my usage yet.
I'm getting worried I've not really accounted for any price increases this year for my maternity budgetWater will go up, council tax will go up, plus I wanted to get some life insurance in place to protect baby. So there are some added costs. The only thing in my favour is the mortgage at the moment as we're saving the difference each month from when we changed from fixed (6.15%) to BMR (2.5%). So at the mo we're able to stash away £300 a month to counter any future base rate increases.
Sorry for all that talk on moneyBaby Giz born 6/2/110 -

Aw hun if you are that scared then it is best he comes home to be with you, but you could still go a good couple of weeks before bubs is ready to move. Was he due to come home soon anyway?"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
poo in childbirth normal, there is 2 mw and on holds a pad aainst your erineum to help prevent mega tears if you poop they just wipe and cover with pad. It when they shove finger up bum after to check for tears that is eeeekkkkkk
my pains eased off a bit to be replaced by heartburn and special poops more than cramps.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
sharkey it could be that you still have a way to go I checked this out
If you're not sure whether your baby has engaged yet, ask your midwife at your next appointment. By gently pressing around the lower part of your bump, she can feel how far your baby has dropped down into your pelvis.
Your midwife will write a figure in your notes to record how many fifths of your baby's head she can feel above the edge of your pelvis. So 5/5 or 4/5 in your notes means that your baby hasn't dropped down yet, while 3/5 or 2/5 or less means that your baby is engaged.
It's all very confusing as you would think it was the other way about???"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -

Did you have visions of them putting a rubber glove on and a whole hand issue  no wonder you were freakin out :rotfl:I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
