I'm getting a really bad case of restless legs when I wake or my carpal tunnel is playing up so I need to get up so I don't disturb hubby...he has told me if I need to wake him to do so but I feel guilty as he has a 9 hour day to go into in a lab so needs to be able to concentrate

Hi MV - not sure if you're still posting on this thread but hopefully you'll see this.

I decided along with OH and my MW to give up on breastfeeding - we had days of tears and tantrums and I didn't want to remember Sam's early days like that, so we've gone to formula and he's now sleeping brilliantly (well, he did last night, he's still only 5 days old!) and so much less tearful, as am I. I just couldn't get to grips with it and nor could he - it seemed constantly like his mouth was too small and I could never get the directional aim correct.

That's not me telling you to do the same, just sharing my experience. I did post on Facebook about it and got so much wonderful advice and reassurance from friends, I don't know if you can see my profile through the MSE groups but if you can, have a look for the post.

I can't remember if I posted a pic of Sam on here so if not, here he is - if I did, here he is again!

HI lilian - thanks for sharing what you have decided to do. I have the midwife coming over today, so am going to be having the same conversations with her that you probably did :o

Josh is sleeping t the moment. We gave him a formula bottle (or OH did!) and he's slept really well last night.

When he wakes up I'm going to have another crack on the breast, I'm not quite ready to quit yet, but like you I don't want to spoil the precious first days worrying and stressing over BF.

OH was wonderful last night. I was so over-tired I was practically hallucinating and gibbering, so he brought Josh's moses basket into the living room, and slept on the sofa bed with him and let me have an entire night of unbroken sleep in the bedroom. I feel SO much better today..it was the best present anyone could have given me :o

I felt a bit guilty as I'd missed a whole night of caring for Josh, but I think in hindsight it was for the best as I was getting too tired to function.

I love Josh so much. He is so perfect. Just hope I can be as good a mum to him as he deserves.

Sam is beautiful lilian :). Many congratulations xxx

Still not glowing my skin is terrible, Ive got like teenage acne ? and my nostril is swollen can only imagine its going to be another spot... yuck. Sick fed up my skin never used to be that bad but my hormones must be making it crazy.

Hi Lab, sorry to snip your post but I'm exactly the same!!! I've always had odd spots but this has been horrendous!! Got so bad a few weeks ago that I asked a lady at the chemist and she said it wasn't just spots/acne, but a skin infection, so made an appointment at the doctors and he gave me a moisturiser (think it's called Diprobase) and I found some anti-bacterial facewash in Morrisons (can't remember the name  but was only 47p and lasts ages!) and between both items, they really cleared my skin up! Unfortunately I decided to go back to my Simple stuff and it's flared up again so back to Morrisons today I think! So you don't have to put up with it :) Hope you can get it sorted! x

    Aww Lilian, he's gorgeous!!!!!!!

I had a bit of a pants sleep last night, with aches and leg cramps, really didn't wanna get up this morning :(

Good luck for tests/happy birthdays/hugs - help yourself as needed :D xx

Sorry, I'm at work so have to be super quick, but I just wanted to say big (((Hugs))) to MV and Lillian. Your posts are making me so emotional - and I can't wait to see my baby!!

Both Sam and Josh are very handsome and look very happy and contented babies. You both will do what is best for your child regardless of which receptable the milk comes out of! I wish you both well and hope you both stay in touch to let us newbies know how it's going!

MV - Have you done a birth story yet? Can't wait to read it :)

PS - Dusty - Did you have to post the link to the Moses basket??? I was all set for not getting one and using the carrycot from my pram - but of course now I want the pink one - bargain at £25. Hmmmm decisions, decisions!!

DM11 - Good luck for your test. Make sure you keep moving your head so the examiner can see you're checking the mirror. Getting your licence will be the best thing ever!

    Hope the insomniacs are well.

Sorry for not catching up properly but I really do need to get some work done!

    Love to all x

No its fine, glad someone else is in the same boat. Got the midwife on friday so will mention it then. My nostril feels like its swollen to double the size. Think Im going to give face a good clean with anti-bac stuff at nights and see how I go. Its odd because it must be oily to make spots but if I dont moisturise as soon as i get out the shower it starts going all dry and flakey. Oh the joys of being pregnant.Cant really complain , have had no morning sickness or anything like that so ive gotten off lightly
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!
Gorgeous baby boy born 7/7/11 :D
  • Hi sammy...don't worry, your baby will be with you before you know it. I can't believe I have a baby sleeping in the room next door!

I will write a birth story when I have a moment..maybe this evening. It was all a bit long and arduous though, so feel free not to read it till after your baby is born!

You just get through it though. Even at moments where you think you can't, you do. Your body is an AMAZING piece of machinery. I think men get an all new respect for their wives and partners after having witnessed them giving birth!

    We rock basically! :beer::D
