Thanks for the info Perdi, it's just the swine flu part of it that worries me as it has only been around for a yearish, so there can't be any longer term results for the children who's Mam had it.

As GL said, it's also a different flu bit each year. The point about swine flu is technically it's 'just another' flu strain but the difference being (and the reason it was in the news so much) is it's the only one that really puts the young and pregnant at risk, all the others put the elderly at risk. Hence the big push to get pg women to take up over previous years.

It's always a tricky one to decide. You can present me with all the evidence about the safety of MMR and other vaccines but there'll still be a part of me that frets. I think it's because it's to do with your little one so you can never completely divorce your heart from your head!

I hate it when you take too long to type out a reply and there's been loads of other posts by the time you finish - that'll teach me to post at work while I'm answering phones :D

Well i just mucked about on a web calculator thing and it said when Im full term I can expect to have gained 2st-2st12 lb. OMG

I read that  I think it meant that's the maximum you should gain rather than expected weight gain. At least I hope so!!

they only weighed me at my booking in appt which was the 12 week one they havent re weighed me

wouldnt worry about the weight gain anyway itll all drop off as soon as baby is crawling and you chase it round everywhere lol

I wouldn't worry too much about your weight, the only reason I'm bothered is because I am very overweight already or to put it politely like the medics do I have a high BMI LOL! At your 16 week you will get BP taken, urine checked and mw will check for bubs heartbeat which is lovely. As far as i'm aware they wont weigh you at any appointments.

LabLover I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow with the midwife and I would imagine I will be weighed again (from memory I think they do this at all the routine appointments as well as testing your wee for protein and checking blood pressure) - will let you know tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry think your weight gain sounds very normal
I've put on about 4-5lb I think but had trouble eating anything much the first trimester so think I lost a few pounds from my starting weight.

i Hope so otherwise I defo will have massive stretch marks. The thing is there was an anorexic woman in my town who sorted herself out and managed to get pregnant , think she mustve been about 7stone soaking wet before she got pregnant, then all she had was a bump , didnt put weight on arms, legs and face, and her baby was born 8lbs. Think the wee critters have a way of getting all the good things they need without us having to eat like horses. My sis keeps saying just eat it if you want it , your going to get fat anyway, but Im really just trying to eat normally.think im blabbering but just think sometimes people take the "eating for two "thing a bit far , I want to stab my OH with a fork everytime he says it

I don't think they re wiegh you unless they are concerned. My Mum said she gained 3 stone with me and only had half a stone to lose after and she is a little thing so am not too worried.

I am strangely a lot more chilled out since pregnant...supposed to be other way round? I would have been more annoyed with OH if he wasn't sorting car out today with MOT etc.

Thanks Perdi , will look into the base , seems easier than faffing about with seat belts all the time. Ive had my 2 year old nephew tell me how to do it when Ive been babysitting, cant expect my newborn baby to pipe up with instructions.lol I did have another question but completely forgot.... oh yeah I was going to ask about changing bags (people are pestering me as to what they can buy us for the baby , but we have most of it sorted out so needing to look for stuff that they can get) I quite like the look of the free boots one? Looks pretty durable and matches the quinny we are getting. Any views of changing bags? I must admit I like a nice bag , have a few pauls boutique ones and some radley and leather river island ones but for some reason I dont know that I want the handbag looking changing bag?If that makes sense?

I've been wondering about changing bags too. All our gifts have been bought so we'll have to get this one ourselves. I've heard the Skip Hop and Caboodle brands are good and they seem reasonable.

I feel humongous (sp) now, you ladies are talking about the weight you've put on, i've gone from 10.6st to 12.2st. Thats 24lbs isn't it? I'm only 32+2 :-(

I was 10.4 at my booking in (heaviest I've ever been anyway, and was 11.6 yesterday (28+4). No idea if that is ok or not and I don't want to know :o
