I post and a million other posts appear lol...
Lab, great news about your OH
And PC, I wasn't really that fussed on having it but a friend of mine works on the critical care ward of my local hospital (and she never has the flu jab normally but did this year) She said it's been so much worse than last year, and with a husband that travels a lot on public transport and a child at school with other children coughing/sneezing/nose picking all over each other... And then getting flu just before christmas, and how ill I felt... I decided it wasn't worth the risk not to... Plus, it gives the baby some protection after it's born too and seeing as they're so small and at risk of things when they're born, I'd rather take that one thing away if I could....
But that's just my opinionA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I never really put any thought into getting my flu jab (bad mum to be !) Then I came back to work to find that 2 people had been sent home with flu , and another has been off with it for 2 weeks and ended up in hospital. So its a very real threat and I feel ive made the right choice , because im one of thos people that gets everything thats goingThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

I think Giz was asking a few pages back about if anyone was hoping to have a water birth?
I certainly am hoping to be able to use a birthing pool, if only for pain relief. Unfortunately though I think there are only 2 in my birth centre, so it depends on if they are free, and I think there is one at the hospital bit..so same story.
I won't be able to use the BC at all though unless this baby gets a shift on naturally. If I need any kind of induction, it's game over and I'll have to go directly to the hospital.
Ah well..what will be etc....Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hiya girls,
Been lurking for a while without too much I feel I can add. Hormones are a real pig, aren't they.
Trying to drag myself out of it and will try and post a bit more.
For those who remember, I was struggling with mobility and have only just sorted out physio for next week. Joys of the nhs!! Back to work tomorrow but it's the last few weeks for me thankfully and I have a "boy" who's supposed to be doing my work with me just keeping an eye on him. But I know he's pretty useless so should keep me busy.
House is still in bits although the joiners have been fab and worked like Trojans at OH request to get our bed room finished so we can move back in and out of the nursery.
Hallway full of boxes is driving OH mad!! Lol
Well, off to make some lunch. Will post again later.

Hmmmm, yeah I keep putting that side of things in the back of my mind. I have to remember that my psychologist said that it's very different pushing something out rather than letting something in and that my body will change for the occassion and there's no reason it will hurt any more than for anyone else.
My biggest worry is internals. I've been told they don't do them routinely the way they seem to on the OBEM hospital. But for the pool they have to check you are enough dilated to get in, so I won't have a choice but to have at least one. I also hope I won't need a pessary or my waters broken or any of those things. Fingers crossed for a natural birth eh?
The one thing I was worried about was DTD again. We hadn't done it since conception, but I've um been in the mood all weekand we've done it a few times. After 8 months of not doing it I was scared of being back at square one, but I had no problems
It was also good doing it for fun and not for baby making and worrying about sitting with my legs in the air afterward!
Thanks Giz, been trying not to say anything to you about it, sorry! I think the midwife just got me a bit worried yesterday, talking like I'd have to have several grr, she was a different one and not as helpful as my first. It's reassuring to know that they've said they don't do exams routinely. I think I'd just refuse anyway.
Fingers crossed it all happens smoothly!
We've only DTD once to celebrate lol, then first trimester so I felt like carp, TMI we've done things other than DTD but he's not been pushing it and I've just not quite been in the mood enough to jump him!0 -

Am I being over cautious or irresponsible? does anyone know anything to refute my "too new no children who've had it" worry?
I was talking to OH about it this morning as I knew there would be people unsure. He says the swine flu vaccine has now had the same tests that any other vaccine has had. If I understood him correctly the flu jab itself has been around for years so there will be children around if that's your concern, all that happens is it's just different strains in it each year, the delivery method is the same.
I wouldn't usually have bothered but the advice for this year has been strongly for pregnant women being added to the vulnerable list. Apparently it's looking like the reason the stocks are so low is that lots of GPs didn't see the change in the list for this year so only got the usual amount of stocks in.0 -
Is anyone else getting/using a quinny for bubs? My SIL bought the quinny speedi and maxi-cosi car sear and carrycot for her baby then when he was around 1 she sold the speedi and carrycot and bought a quinny buzz because she wanted baby to face inward and outward( i might have got models mixed up ) anyway nephew started walking 3 weeks later and she ended up just getting an easy fold cheapy buggy. Anyhoo she has offered us the new quinny and car seat (she doesnt drive so this was hardly used ) and my parents are going to buy the carrycot for it. See the isofix base you can buy does that last more than one car seat? i.e does it fit the next size up car seat? Was thinking of getting the base but if its only going to the 1st car seat then I wont bother.
I'm looking at the Quinny Zapp Xtra as I don't drive. But OH does so we'll be getting the maxi cosi car seat as well. If you get the familyfix base rather than the easyfix then you can use it for the next seat size up as well.0 -
Hi Coops I had noticed you were MIA too.....hah baby brain isn't that bad this time round
:D
Krystal I'm not as far on as you and I struggle to walk any distance because of the stitch pains I get in my bump, just walking round the supermarket was enough for me last night. It is a pain as I, like you was hoping to keep active, but unfortunately your body has the last say! What a carry on your having, poor you!
PC I was set against getting the flu jab as I feel there hasn't been enough testing done either but the MW reassured me when she said it was a dead vaccine and wont cross the placenta. It is (for me) a very difficult decision but have to weigh up the pros and cons."That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -

In the end I decided to have the jab because I've had flu (proper can't get out of bed for that £50 note on the floor flu) for 5 out of the last 6 years and I decided for me that the risk of doing harm to baby with the flu was greater than having the jab.
It is such a hard decision to make though.
@MV - I hope you get to use water then. Please please please give your feedback if you can spare a few minutes when baby is born if you get to use it. I've got my heart set on a water birth but there's only one pool at our hospital.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Thanks Teenie
I had the stretching pains a lot more with DD2, but they did seem to die off after a while so there's hope for you yet!!
Giz, I had a water birth with DD1, what sort of feedback are you after?A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
