Morning All!
Dusty, as Charlie said you tend to forget how much stuff costs lol, it just becomes the norm but from what I remember as was something like this:
Formula (Cow and Gate, £7)
Nappies, first few weeks you get through loads, calms down a bit after that, esp when they start sleeping through lol (Tried various as dd got awful rash but have ended up having to stick with expensive pampers ones, hopefully going to be out of these soon as we're potty training, joy)
Wipes - Asda own for us, non fragranced they have been perfectly fine on her little bum. I have to admit I was far too lazy to bother with cotton wool and water, tried it once and it took ages so switched to wipes
I think those are your 3 main weekly expenses, if your parents keeping asking what they can get, ask them to add the odd pack of nappies/wipes to their weekly shopping until bubs is born if you dont want anything else, my mum did this and I still have talc etc from when dd was born over 2 yrs ago lol. Dont forget your formula expense will only be for around 6 months, then bubs starts getting introduced to food etc so you may start using less formula. Oooh MSE tip, when LO starts on food, dont use wipes to clean up, use a flannel instead, far cheaper! Lol...
I think Ive just gone off on my own tangent now lolSealed Pot Challenge Member 151

I'm going to start stocking up on nappies, and defiantely wipes, we went through loads of them. I also went through a lot of breast pads so will get a few boxes of them before bubs arrives. Apart from that there wasn't an awful lot else I bought in the first few months."That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. Having a bit of a melt down at the mo and have just told DH to go F himself on the phone which normally isn't like me
It's all about ...you guessed it money (again!)
<<hugs>> i feel your anger.
i just went to check our finances (like you tis my responsibility he'd not have a clue) as wanted to get the baby monitor on ebays deal of the day. DH is allowed £40 a week for pub, tho knows on the rare occasion he goes shopping its fine to take more out. he went out with work last friday and basically made out to me he'd spent naff all. so explain how £150 has been removed in a week. £10 of this he took out yesterday as i begged him to go buy me lucozade after throwing up for 12 hours solidly. how can anyone sprnd that much in a week?????????????????????????????????? thats my entire months budget!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad: why do i bother?loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
I have started stocking up on little baby nappies, we always have a couple of boxes of DDs nappies in her bedroom. My attitude is that its better to have too many than run out
I am always trying to stock up on wipes but we always seem to either use them or lose them lol.
At the moment I am trying to put £10 a month aside on a asda giftcard so that I have enough aside for the next baby event to go on a spending spreeDS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz

I get on him about that too, he never goes out but manages to spend £10 here and £15 there and it soon adds up. We were doing so well too and have had money left at the end of the month. Obviously not budgeted too well this month.
We used to take £200 out at the beginning of the month and that just had to do us but we've not done that for a while so going to have to go back to it I think, you always lose track using your card all the time.
I feel really sick now and poor DD has missed her little group we go to on a Wed morning (not that she seems that bothered).
Sorry ladies not very pregnancy related"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -

Oh that's a good idea never thought of doing that before!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
If anyone wants to hear a good first birth/induction experience, I just got info from BF about her new nephew.
Mum to be went into hospital to be induced at 7pm last night. Was given pessary and at midnight when nothing had happened was sent home to return this morning (lives a few minutes away from hospital). Contractions began at home so returned to hospital at 3am and was holding baby at 6am.
Sounds great to me!0 -

Is anyone else worrying about money?
I don't earn enough as it is and when I mentioned to OH the other day that I may need him to cover my share of the bills while I'm on mat leave his eyes nearly fell out of his head. I can't work out properly how much I'll be getting but if I'm skint now it'll be even worse then, think I'll tell OH that he can take a few months off work to bring the baby up and I'll keep working, but I'm worried he'd actually take me up on it
If you want to PM me your joint weekly or monthly income I can work out your tax credits if you'd like.
As for baby costs with my first I had all the cot, pram etc stuff in advance and clothes from birth-3 yrs (shopaholic Nanna). I BFed exclusively and extreme bulk bought nappies and wipes when on a super offer, I used a lot of coupons from Tesco/Sain's and the manufacturers and combined with conditional spends (eg £6 off when you spend £40) so I think if I had divided up these costs I can't imagine she cost more than £10 a week. It's amazing how little toiletries you use as well I had bought 6 shampoos before she was born from Boots on 1/2 price + bogof +my mam's staff discount and I am only onto the 3rd bottle and she's 2.5 now! does shampoo go off:rotfl:.
There will be other bits as mentioned ear buds cotton wool etc for me the secret is ALWAYS to check the offers even if you have a cupboard full, don't be afraid to buy 2 sizes up in nappies for eg if the offer is good enough, (assuming you have the room or a relative can store them)
Final tip make sure your in the Sain's baby club they will send you vouchers hold them till the 1/3rd off all baby stuff event. I got 8 packs of sain's own make size 2's for about £3 a couple of months ago, I have enough size 1's from the free Newborn Huggies box offer.AKA: PC

I agree about bulk buying when offers are on and combining maufacturers coupons. I have about a years worth of nappies (various sizes obviously) and 100 packets of wipes. I got some of my nappies when a local supermarket offered a free Jumbo box of Pampers when you spent £40 (any size). I would have spent that on groceries anyway so were free. I got sterilizer and breast pump when the double up on Tesco vouchers was on last time, so free.0

Thanks for the advice teenie, Fanta and Gfh - I'll speak to my OH about it tonight.
Teenie - sorry to hear aboutyour OH - mine doesn't budget either and relies on me to do all that (I blame his parents for not making him take responsibility!)
Off to go swimming - headstands at the deep end are meant to be good for turning a breech baby!0
