Hi everyone, I'm around but not had much time to post - was away a few days and missed loads of the thread so congrats to new arrivals and welcome any newbies.
Hope everyone had happy Christmas and new year :) We went for a 5 mile walk on New years day and I thought my body would never recover, one hot bath later I was fine which was lucky!! I actually got to the point where I didn't think I could carry on, but we were already over halfway so wouldn't have made any difference!!

Starting antenatal classes next week, yay :) and got to have the GTT test week after next (boo). Good job I gave up all sweets and chocs after Christmas (until there were biscuits in the office this morning, oops!!).

    Afternoon ladies :D

((Hugs)) MV not long now (hopefully!) and great news about your tax rebate.

Sarah how old is your wee one? She sounds like a wee angel. It's the sort of thing my DD would come out with (she is 3), she keeps telling me "Mum come down stairs on your bottom, you don't want to fall again!" or "are you going to be sick" she likes to come up and rub my back :o, no matter how much I try to sneak off she always knows when I'm not well!

Well had my 24 week appt with midwife today and tbh honest I ususally find her really nice but came out feeling really peed off! Probably more me than her!

She asked about flu jab which I really haven't been sure about so she was going on and on about that (I have looked more closely at it so probably will go for it), then asked me about healthy eating classes which she had already mentioned the last time and asked if I wanted to go. Look love I have been on a diet for years, I KNOW how to eat healthily I lost nearly 4 stone last year it's just keeping it up!!!!!!!!
Then she informed me I would have to see the anaesthetist "just in case there are complications" !!!!!! is that all about. Turns out since I have a high BMI it is now standard procedure. I know why they do it but I just felt I was getting a good bit of fat bashing today :(.
Oh and she had run out of MatB1 forms, she used the last one yesterday apparantly and hadn't been up to the main office (in the hospital to get more), well why wait until you are down to the last one anyway before you get more  She said she would send it out to me.

On the plus side my BP is the lowest it has EVER been which I was chuffed about and she listenened to bubs heart so that was nice to hear (even though the wee monkey kept wriggling away!).

So there we go rant over. SHe is actually a really nice MW......just not today!!!!!!

At least that's me now until GTT at the end of the month (oh I asked her what would happen if I threw the solution back up, she just looked at me as if that had never happened before and said she didn't know what they would do. Maybe it hasn't happened before, but there is always a first :p, there is no guarantee I will keep it down ,I need breakfast to stop me feeling sick!).

Sorry didn't intend having such mammoth post, it's nice to have a we rant though and I feel much better! :D

  • Teenie - sorry about your MW, I cant stand mine and dread all my appointments with her to be honest. Keep on at her for your MATB1 form though as I only got mine last week at 33 weeks, as she kept "forgetting" to pick it up for me - you would think the grant was coming out her own pocket.lol.

  • Hey Teenie - I've got to go see an anaesthatist too. Cos I had problems with the epidural last time. They have booked me in to see him in April. Hmmm - I don't WANT a GA. They obviously aren't listening! Hubby wants me to go. I don't see the point. If I have to go on my own i'll just cancel the damned thing.

Anyone know where my GTT is likely to be held? I was under the impression i'd have to go to the hospital for it but it would be much easier to go to the docs. I've not had anything through the post re this yet. Any clues?

Apart from that... just slogging along. I'm struggling to get through the day without a nap now which is hard work as I still have to work. Oh and sickness is back which is wonderful too. Nothing I can't cope with though thankfully *prays it doesn't get worse*

Oh... and I bought my breast pump which was half price in Boots so i'm well chuffed with my purchase. Hubby can now feed bubs when i'm not :)

But that's the thing I'm planning on having a natural birth and will try to avoid any medical intervention as far as possible and they don't even do flipping epidurals here! I know things can happen unexpectantly (sp sorry) but I managed to give birth to DD without having to see anyone grrrrrrrr! Sorry :o

I'm having my GTT at the hospital.

Just read you post Teenie, and realised im 24 weeks today :j, its always reasuring to get to 24 weeks. I dont have another MW appointment until the 18th of Jan and ill be 26 weeks. That means I wont have seen a MW since 16 weeks.
I did get to meet the one in my new practice but she just wanted to talk to me so no examination, just a quick chat about me moving there. And the lady for the scan, did just the scan and thats it, not much chat and no questions. It seems a long time.

Im chuffed by how much ive got done today. Ive sorted the kids bedroom finally since moving. They now have a nice space to play. I also unpacked our last box. Im off to the dump in a bit with some broken toys etc. its feels good getting that done.
Im also about to tackle a mountain of ironing. I dont normally iron much but since im not working at the moment, I feel I should be doing more.

Im going to hoover the kitchen and clean the floor too. Thats the first time since we moved on the 1 st of Dec :o ( I have hoovered, just not mopped).

these are all things that have conritibuted to me feeling down. i feel more positive that the house is more how I want it. I even spent an hour with DS building lego. Thats another thing I always feel guilty for. not sitting down and just playing with him.

I better get a move on or Ill lose my motivation.

    Hello all,

Teenie - midwives seem to be a bit hit and miss. My first one i saw was very disorganised but the second was a lot better. Just ignore her!

Sorry to sound a bit stupid but what is a GTT, haven't heard about it?

Afternoon all, I've been feeling quite chilled the last few days. Ordered the final baby bits we need to begin with, so all that is left now is for me to go and get some cheapo nursing bras (I'll buy decent ones once I know my actual full-udders size). We've decided to hold off buying the cot and doing up the nursery (which has now been turned into the birthing room anyway) till the baby is ready to go in its own room and we can decide on a theme or whatever that suits its character.

Had a great yoga session yesterday, my SPD has improved a lot now baby is engaged as it helps stabilise the pelvis and my teacher said I was looking a lot more flexible too. I can even bend down a bit better now the baby isn't wedged under my ribs.

Finally the best news, OH has been told by his HR dept that there is no qualifying period for company paternity leave, so he gets two weeks paid leave straight away - fabbo.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.

She has been nice so far and it's not that she's not nice I think I am just being supersenstive today :o

GTT is glucose tolerance test, I have to go to the hospital at 8am after fasting from midnight and drink lucozade or something syrupy after they do bloods then sit for 2 hours and they will take more bloods to see if I have gestational diabetes.

Fab news nic, it is reassuring to get to 24 weeks. I am so glad you are feeling a wee bit better today :) xx
