Congrats Princess on your lovely little girl! Very cute
Welcome BCS
This GTT thing - does everyone have to do it? I am worried as I scoffed too much chocolate and sweets over Christmas, and have put on some weight since getting pregnant :eek:0 -
I wasn't going to bother about a breast pump until I knew for certain I was able to breast feed (you never know right?). Then I was just going to borrow my friends but hers isn't electric. Now I've seen this one half price, http://www.boots.com/en/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-to-Nature-Electric-Breast-Pump_954508/
Is electric much better than hand pump? Is it worth getting this now or will it add more pressure to me? Am I fretting about nothing?0 -
Sarah how old is your wee one? She sounds like a wee angel. It's the sort of thing my DD would come out with (she is 3), she keeps telling me "Mum come down stairs on your bottom, you don't want to fall again!" or "are you going to be sick" she likes to come up and rub my back
, no matter how much I try to sneak off she always knows when I'm not well!
She's 8 and a half and since Christmas been following me around like a lost lamb. I can't visit the loo without her coming to check if I'm ok. She is also going through a phase where she will not go to sleep at night unless I've come to bed and she has checked on me.
I think it's because people have been saying to her that once Christmas is over the baby will be here. I had a chat with her last night to reassure her that I'm ok and to stop fretting so much and lo and behold she was asleep before I come to bed.

That's the one i've just bought!
In my opinion manual breast pumps are hard work! I have not very strong wrists though and the last one I bought really hurt my hands to pump and I gave up a short while after. I plan to pump milk rather than buy it regardless of whether breast feeding works or not. Like I say... that's the plan lol. Whether it works out that way is another thing!:rotfl:
Hubby has just agreed to go baby shopping this weekend! So excited! I want lots of yellow splodges over the stuff i've bought! Want to make a dent in the list so fingers crossed mothercare are kind to us!
Also - I was looking at baby blankets. With my DD I bought the cellular ones as I was advised to layer up. I seem to remember them being quite expensive as I bought loads to layer up and down. I've just noticed fleece ones on the mothercare website. I thought we wasn't supposed to use fleece?! Any advice gladly received!Beautiful Baby Boy born 28 April 20110 -
Digital - not all women are given GTT, depends if they think you are at risk. If nobody has said anything to you, assume you are low risk.
Dusty - my midwives said hold off expressing until you have got a milk supply established - I think they said at least a month. So if I was you I would wait to buy. Electric is supposed to be better, but some of the manual ones have good reviews too.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Hi everyone hope you & your bumps are all well.
I had my 1st antenatal appointment come through for he hospital today & wondered what they do as its been over 12 years since I was last pregnant & can't remember.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

You are asked to do it if
your BMI is up
you have someone in your family with diabetes
you have an a in your name...
nothing to worry about, but you don't HAVE to have it.
There's not a whole lot they can do if you're not dealing well with sugar anyway, unless its severe. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
At least that's me now until GTT at the end of the month (oh I asked her what would happen if I threw the solution back up, she just looked at me as if that had never happened before and said she didn't know what they would do. Maybe it hasn't happened before, but there is always a first
, there is no guarantee I will keep it down ,I need breakfast to stop me feeling sick!).
Sorry didn't intend having such mammoth post, it's nice to have a we rant though and I feel much better!
Teenie - I have been worrying about the same thing, not sure how well the lucozade will stay down if I've not eaten anything else!!Charlie1978 wrote: »Anyone know where my GTT is likely to be held? I was under the impression i'd have to go to the hospital for it but it would be much easier to go to the docs. I've not had anything through the post re this yet. Any clues?
Oh... and I bought my breast pump which was half price in Boots so i'm well chuffed with my purchase. Hubby can now feed bubs when i'm not
Charlie - Mine is at the doctors - the midwife was debating it (with the community midwife who was also at my session), seems all they have to do is take the bloods and send them for analysis so no need for me to be in hospital - I do have to stay at the surgery for the 2 hours tho  Only got mine booked this week at my appointment, I think it needs to be done around 28 weeks (at least that was what MW said).
What pump did you get? I have decided to get one, just weighing up which one, seems the good ones are expensive!! Still that's the price of my freedom...0 -

Cheers hun. It just seems a bit unfair that i've got to have it just because my sister has diabetes! I don't think I can be bothered with going to the hospital and sitting around for 2 hours but then again, i'm not entirely sure if i'm putting the baby at risk if I don't go and have it done. Obviously if that were the case i'd be up there in a shot!
I've just bought the Tommee Tippee closer to nature electric breast pump which is half price in boots. It has been linked a bit further up. Reduced from £80 to £40 at the moment so it is an absolute steal! Plus advantage points! Don't forget them!Beautiful Baby Boy born 28 April 20110
