Thanks everyone. It's really weird, don't think it's fully sunk in yet. Don't know what i'm supposed to do now?
Am i supposed to go to the doctor asap? I have some medical conditions which i'm sure they'll want to worry about! When you go do they do another test? Do i have to take a sample with me, or do it there? Stupid questions i know!
Went to see my sister today and she asked me how the whole trying for a baby was going and i lied and told her no luck yet, felt a bit bad, but don't want to tell friends and family yet in case anything goes wrong. Also up for promotion at work in the next few weeks or so i think, i don't have to tell them do i?0 -
Oh, does anyone know of the best freebies available to new mummy's and daddies?0

Thanks Annie, it is our first! We wanted to wait until we'd got married, then we stopped trying to not get pregnant, and then, i don't know why but yesterday i bought a couple of tests and then this morning tested, then tested again, then once hubby had gone to work i drove to a local pharmacy bought two of the digital tests and tested again, can't quite believe it! I have bought a pair of booties and wrapped them up. Me and my hubby have been paying off our debts for ages, and we decided on a present free December, but then he bought me a box of Chocs foe New Year, so i've texted him at work to tell him i have a present for him when he gets in! I'm just going to give him the wrapped booties, and then stand holding the tests!!!! He's oing to be so excited.
Is it normal to be really scared, i'm petrified that i know nothing, and am somehow going to get it all wrong!
thats so sweet hell be so happy :j

Ecoelle - congratulations! Sounds like the way me and OH got pregnant, it's so exciting but scary at the same time.
In response to your last questions, the doctors thing is different depending on where you live - best to just ring them. I had to drop in a urine sample and then saw the MW at 10 weeks, but I know others have had different experiences. Have you worked out your due date? If not have a look here: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/tools/duedate/ - you'll need the date of your last period.
You don't have to tell work until 15 weeks before your due date, but if you don't you can't get a risk assessment or anything like that so it's better to tell early - most people wait until their 12 weeks scan or sometimes their 20 week. Have a read of this: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/work/tellingemployer/
Finally, freebies! Have a look at Boots Parenting Club (free changing bag, hospital essentials for mum and Cow and Gate food plus 10 points per £1 spent on baby on your Advantage card), Tesco Baby club and Sainsburys Baby club, then things like Avent, Bounty (you should get your first freebie from your midwife though), Emmas Diary, Cow and Gate, Aptamil etc.
Good luck and I can't wait to see what your OH's reaction is!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -
eoelle- Congratulations. Different nhs services are different but the best thing to do is ring doctors, explian you are pregnant and ask who you have to see. I had to see doctor first but they didn't even do a test or anything just gave me information and asked about folic acid etc. Then i went to see midwife when i was 10 weeks.0

Hi Ladies,
MV - Sorry to hear about your cra**y nightTables of drunk revellers are alright when you're drunk yourself - just not when you're sober lol. I hope you got to enjoy it at midnight - at least you made it to midnight - at 38 weeks that's a feat in itself!!
Chakani - Sorry to hear about the family drama. Sometimes we try to please everyone else but don't think about ourselves. At the end of the day, you are the one giving birth in your home, so you decide who you want to stay and when. Let us know how it goes. My sister is having a similar drama with our parents, but she has the space at home. I'm dreading the same drama when it's my time - but I'll see what happens with my sister first :rotfl:
I really cba to do anything today. Walked the dog and visited the inlaws and should really do some washing and housework but am now stuck to the sofa. Think I might have a sofa day today.
Welcome ecoelle - have you worked out your due date yet and we can add you to the list. Good luck telling DH the exciting news :j0 -

I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Happy New Year all! Again I have been lurking on here, and still finding it hard to keep up with things. Hope everyone is doing well, CONGRATS on all the new arrivals and WELCOME to all the newbies.
Just want to say a belated thank you to all those who gave me advice on here in late Nov ref stress at work, I did get signed off for 2 weeks from end of Nov through to mid Dec and it did me the world of good. Also now been off for another 2 weeks for Christmas so it has been a good break. Just hope things get better at work in Jan, but we shall see. But thank you to all those who gave advice, although I didnt reply at the time it was appreciated!!!
All you poorly ladies out there, hope you feel better soon. I currently have flu and feeling VERY sorry for myself, had so much planned for these few days at home before back to work (sorting baby room out, researching reusable nappies and making lists of what to pack for hospital, amongst other things) but just have no energy at all, very frustrating! Any tips on what I could do to shift this illness whilst pregnant? Have been taking paracetamol, throat lozenges, warm baths and breathing in hot water/tea tree oil from a bowl with a towel over my head... but the symptoms only go for max half hour.
32 weeks now and got our last scan next Friday!!! Still hoping to keep the sex a secret so hopefully baby behaves and doesnt give us a sneaky peek, haha!
Anyway, one of my new year resolutions is to keep up with things more on here, and post more... so far so good!!! What are your resolutions?

hello
quick query for all you mummies to be! i am 10 weeks pg with number 3 and my chest has gone into overdrive - it's getting big and very sore! with 1 and 2 it wasn't this bad and i just bought normal (non-wired) bras in a bigger size but this time I'm wondering whether to get proper maternity bras. want to prevent getting even more saggy lol. does anyone have any recommendations? would prefer something that doesn't look like a granny's bra.....

Random question... I am after a birthing ball... is this just the same as an exercise ball? And should I look for a certain size or doesnt it really matter?
Also... thinking of starting on Raspberry Leaf Tea, can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy this online (I am overseas so cant nip to the UK shops)? And when would you recommend starting to take it?
Another thing I am after is a nursing/maternity pillow, so any recommendations of good deals on one would be fab!?!
Thanks in advance:j Baby #1 due 25/02/11 :j0
