  • Hello all

I have tried to add my name to the EDD list (hopefully have managed this correctly) :o

I am expecting baby number 3 sometime around the middle of June next year (planned c section but don't have exact date yet)

Hope you are all keeping well :)
  • Welcome galvinizersbaby.

For ladies worried about the flu jab. You only need one jab this year to cover both seasonal and swine flu. This leaflet is quite jargony but may help

    http://www.rcog.org.uk/files/rcog-corp/Final%20171210%20Advice%20on%20influenza%20A%20for%20maternity%20services.pdf

this one was produced last year when you still needed 2 jabs but again you may find some of your questions answered

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_182310.pdf

your GP will have a certain vaccine target to meet so the idea that they won't see you is ridiculous. Demand to be seen. your practice nurse can administer the jab, it doesn't have to be your doctor.

I'm really surprised that a lot of people on here haven't been offered the flu jab!

At my doctors they're practically hounding you down to have it! I'm 26 weeks pregnant today and was given my jab on my 17 week midwife appointment. Mind you, my friend works at my doctors and as soon as I walked through the door she called me over and told me she'd put something on my notes about being eligible for the flu jab and saw that I was due to see my midwife so she'd booked me in with the nurse to have it after my midwife appointment.

    Hey peeps

Quick question - when I booked in for the flu jab (for next week) the receptionist told me if I get a cold between now and then I won't be able to have the jab. Typically I now feel like I'm coming down with something cold like. However when I looked on an NHS site it said I can't have the jab if I have a fever, but nothing about colds (I now can't even find that but I'm sure I've read it somewhere). Does anyone know which is right?

I am now stressing (having looked at Dusty's leaflet) that it could be flu... gulp. Still I needed something to stress about, and since bubs is wriggling away I am not too concerned about him!!
  • ema_o its very unlikely you will have 'flu. If it continues, just ring them before you go and ask is it worth coming in. You can have paracetamol if you need it.

I feel guilty and a bit selfish. Am I the only one not worried about flu/swine flu?

I have read various articles etc and still have no inclination to get it.

I have never had the flu in my life. And I hope I am healthy enough to fight it if I was unlucky enough to get it now.

I understand why most of you want to get it. But I feel I cant protect the baby from everything anyway.

I was offered it at my GP's recently but declined as I didn't really know enough about any effects the vaccine might have on my baby and I hate taking anything when pg (even paracetamol) :o
It seems as though the vaccine is safe to have in pregnancy but I haven't decided yet.

I did see the news report but I also heard rather conflicting info that the number of cases of flu were normal for this time of the year anyway?!

There does seems to be quite a number of concerned ladies on this thread reading back
  • Well I rung my GP this morning and was told to come in for the jab.

They were doing a walk-in clinic between 11.30 and 12, so got myself down there nice and early. Only had to wait 10 mins or so, and the chap who gave me the jab was very nice and said they were definitely recommending that pregnant women have the jab, and that it was a dead vaccine.

I don't normally bother with things like this, but got a bit freaked by all the news stories that were appearing yesterday.

Dusty thanks again for all the info :)

  • Hi Lady bumps

Welcome to our newbies :) glad to see you guys :)

I'm in a mood today....am in work, am sore, my bump is having a stretch day and now there are politics going on where one boss says we can go at 1.30 pm tomorrow and another says we are paid until 4.30 pm so we can stay. I work for the NHS and as we don't get bonuses the one thing that we always get is away that wee bit earlier on Christmas Eve. I now can't get to the grave to leave flowers and won't be going to visit my SIL until after tea time and it totally throws everything out of whack and I am just having a hormonal afternoon and want to cry now :(

On the Flu jab query, I haven't had mine and I don't want it and haven't even been offered it and I work in a hospital but don't treat patients.

Labour vibes for those in need and can you all send me feel good vibes so I can get into better form please lol xxxxxx
